HAVE JUST FITTED A NEW BOSCH MAF AND PIPERCROSS PANEL FILTER TO MY OCTAVIA TDI (90 BHP) AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT HAS MADE. I TOOK HER FOR A QUICK BURN UP THE BY PASS AND IT IS NOTICABLY QUICKER THRO THE GEARS AND IS MORE RESPONSIVE PULLING IN TOP. WILL HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE WHAT IT DOES TO MPG BUT HOPEFULLY IT WILL IMPROVE ( PRESENTLY AVARAGING 45-47 MPG ON A RUN) .IT WAS RETURNING 54-58 0N THE SAME DAILY RUN WHEN I GOT THE CAR LAST YEAR BUT FINGERS CROSSED IT LOOKS LIKE PERFORMANCE HAS RETURNED.:thumbup::thumbup:

Good news. Please turn off your caps lock though :D

Glad your happy it does feel good when all the power is returned:thumbup:

Also as mentioned on this forum(if you do a search) don,t forget to do the "Cage" mod on it too and i think you will also get an even better result too.

is this cage mod where you fill the electrical connector on the maf with some type of grease?

thats the one, dielectric grease to be specific :)

thanks buddy, will order some now

ive just ordered some too, be interesting to see if any difference is noticable.

Works wonders and what a difference by just doing this can make.Smoother idle, acceleration MPG strange but true:thumbup:

I have read about this cage mod, and I am not convinced.... I have to say though, that when I fiddle in that general area of the car, it does seem to improve things for a day or two though. I looked at my MAF and I have gold pins in it. If I were to compress the spring connectors in the MAF socket (as attached to the loom) would that not have a similar affect as to using this dielectric grease?

I'm guessing it just reduces leakage.

If you get the silicon dielectric grease and find it makes no difference (and it is a bit dubious IMHO) then you can always use it on the door seals etc.

Done it to mine and everything smoothed out such as idle and acceleration. There was a definite change. Also done it again recently to apply some more into the connectors and there is a result from it:thumbup:

did mine today, noticed a slight difference in power, def pulls a tad better.

yep, me too a definite smoothing throughout the rev range and pulls a bit better too . have also added millers sport 4 to my fuel and after 300 miles it is much better than it was this time last week :D
