Featured Replies

my mate wants to know if its easy to take the front seats out of his furby vrs. he wants to give them a steam clean because there filthy and i mean there filthy lol. any help would be great.

I havent done it but you can see 4 bolts holding the seats down on the rails,

There star shaped torque headed bolts, remove these and the seats will come out i'd guess, ive done it on pugs and renaults so should be just as easy on a fabia

It isn't difficult. The four bolts should be replaced on each seat.

If the fixings are the same then I needed a 0.5" Spline Bit. Strange thing was though that 2 of the bolts were 11mm.

Very easy to remove, and the spline bits can be bought from Ebay for around £5 delivered.

The spline bolts are M10. :)

Its quite easy, dont do it with a power drill though, the bolts are quite cheap and you may damage the top where the spline bit connects to the bolt. (like I did!)

sounds like an easy job..... anyone know if the spline bolts can be replaced by ordinary hex headed bolts?

Probably not enough room to get a socket on inside the runners. They are cheap enough to buy from Skoda anyway.

As VRS stu said they wont be accesible with a socket.

You could replace them with cap screws but get some high tensile ones or altenatively get them from Skoda.

Or just reuse the existing one's i've swapped a few sets over in my time on different models and never seen the need to replace

But then you can't see the stresses in the bolts with the naked eye. I'm sure Skoda are erring very much on the side of caution, but you wouldn't want them to snap in an collision, and for you to be cheese-wired in half by the seatbelt, would you?

Surely removing a bolt then refitting will cause no stress?

My job is mechanical based and i dont see a problem undoing and then redoing a bolt
