engine light on (yet again!!!)

Featured Replies

Hi again, after failing the MOT on emissions being sky high (even with my Pipercross Induction kit replaced with the normal air box) and engine light on (as a result of this), it was diagnosed as being a faulty ECU, even trade price of £297 was scary, but had to be done, they were 100% sure this would cure the problem. But only three weeks later the light came back on, not happy to say the least, taking car back to garage.

It strikes me that wherever you go its pure guess work. some say Lambda Sensor, some say Airmass Meter, or faulty ECU.

Its fine guessing its this or that, but its the public who pay the bills. Im at a loss as to whats causing this problem, i've got more faith in you guys (or gals!) out there, as all my previous problems have been diagnosed correctly by you lot, and sorted by myself

The car runs fine, but it has got a minor oil leak (would that cause the problem?),

When you take it back ask for the fault code. The light just indicates theres a fault code to be read.

With the fault code someone on here might be able to narrow it down a bit.

You can only diagnose if you know the facts, if you don't it's guesswork.

What engine?, what fault codes? and what were/are the emmissions readings?

Can you post some pics of your car, it looks good as your avatar, but very small. I love white cars

Worth a go for sure. Thing is its one light for many different faults, so it could be something else. Find out before acusing anyone of anything,
