30-130mph Hot Hatch Day

Featured Replies

Anyone know if you can go and watch as I wouldn't mind seeing what some of these can do and it's not too far.

Cheers:thumbup:

fwd only :P

I could drive backwards:D

I could drive backwards:D

LMFAO:rofl:

130mph is pushing a little furby tbh.

After 115 is pretty dead, if i went i might not even make 130mph lol!!

Managed 134 mph (gps) with just a de-cat exhaust by way of mods, think it would take more than 3km tho factoring in stopping distance as well:P

Frankly I don't see that the Fabia 'fits' in with this list of cars as I see it. A 'Hot Hatch' catagory is also based on size as well as how fast it goes and the Fabia sits more comfortably in the Supermini bracket along with the likes of the Mini, Corsa, Clio etc imo.

Surely the Clio is the current Hot Hatch King at present?

size wise i would have said it was closer to a golf than a clio or corsa, it is a bit of an individual tho :)

It wouldn't stand a chance in that company imo, neither would the Fabia come to that!

The motoring press have raved about the Clio being the Hot Hatch King for years. In terms of straight-line speed it is merely brisk, but round the twisties, it is superb. I loved my 16V many years ago, it was nearly as much fun s the 205 GTi.

I don't doubt the qualities of the Clio but in the company of those listed and the test involved it may as well stay at home.

I dare say my car would have the legs on the Clio, but as to defining a ‘Hot Hatch’ the Clio is a supreme Blueprint:thumbup:

Disagree, but then again we cant all think the same can we! :P

Nope and we can’t all be right, but I don’t think any less of you for that:P:D

Cars have grown somewhat in size in the last couple of decades making todays Clio's and Fabia's roughly the same physical size as the mk1 Golf, so I can see where your coming from. :)

I agree with Makefish I don't think this event really suits the Fabia or the Clio as most Octy/Golf/Focus sized hot hatches have a top end of around 150mph as standard, the supermini sized hot hatches usually top out around the 130mph mark.

Of the current batch of supermini sized hot hatches I think the only one that would come close is the Corsa VXR and even then I think it's 1.6T lump wouldn't be enough even with a remap.

I would like to see how well Amanda's car fairs against all these modern day petrol hot hatches, just to see how a modern diesel engine compares.

Better still, my engine in a much lighter Fabia:thumbup:

Would be interesting to see how it compares with the 130i as well :)

It might stand a chance in the 4th gear pull,:) but I think I would get murdered in a through the gears run.:(

What about an M1 (135i basically)

Postman Pat fancies one of those:thumbup:

Didn't think that was out yet?

Seen some nice used 130i's in my price bracket now tho :rubchin::D

EDIT: I see it is but only in coupe/cabriolet guise... extra 40 horses over the 130i. That should be quite rapid  even if it does look like a noddy car :D

Aren't all BMW's rwd, this test is for fwd only?

That is why I offered to drive backwards.

Perhaps the ‘Hot Hatch’ brigade are just frightened of facing a BMW  after all there is no traction advantage if you are using a rolling start.

Never mind the horses feel the torkkkkks. the 135 has a couple of turbos, the 130i is naturally aspirated.
