Fabia vRS Warning light

Featured Replies

Sorry if this post is a bit vague, but i'm working down in Kent and had a call from swmbo saying there's a warning light on the dash.

She said it looks like a "steering wheel with an exclamation mark" through it, just about to head to work, so no real chance to investigate as i need to check out my hotel, but done a quick search, and think it could be the power steering warning light.

any thoughts ?

Is it safe enough for her to drive with kiddie in the back aswell ??

Thanks guys.

Johnny.

It usually appears if the steering is moved whilst the car is started (something to do with battery drain whilst cranking the engine or something) - it just makes the power steering a bit hevier...

If you switch the ignition off on the engine then restart it will vanish and all will be fine

Since it's the power steering warning light, worst that should happen is that it'll get dead heavy - it'll still steer, though!

:iagree: - that said, I can see that being an issue in itself with SWMBO driving.

Cheers guys.

Got home lastnight and indeed the light is no longer on.

However the Engine management light is now permanently lit, and car wont come out of limp mode. :(

Its probably not used to being driven sedately!

Update.

After some words of advice from the nice previous owner..

Said light is now off, and normal fast express service has resumed. :D

Just out of interest as mine keeps illuminating the Steering wheel icon Etc.

What were the words of advice ? :)

Thanks

I cant remember now ! :D

But i do know that low battery sometimes triggers this !

Mine did PAS, ASR and ABS (basically all the amber ones) intermittently when I had a dodgy connection on the battery...

Hmm, After it had stood all night & a full day, it struggled to start, I suspect my battery is on it's way out :o The car had stood for several months before i bought it !!

At this rate, By the end of the week i will have replaced

Front Disc & pads

rear Disc & pads.

Repaired the door carriers

Oil & Filter change.

Air Filter

Fuel Filter

Cambelt

Water pump

& now a battery

After buying the car on Sat , Im now in my own credit crunch Meltdown :D

Cheers

Dean

Quite a few batteries seem to be succumbing to the Winter weather - it's either that or a duff fuel temp sender that's making mine reluctant to start in the mornings...
