Laggg. we think. the map on that run was requestin boost the turbo just couldnt give so it was going into surge conditions.

The car is much better on the map it has now. Pulls like a train. Next time we meet John ill take you for a spin

That explains the wierd shape of the curve on the way up to peak torque. I can see why the lower bhp maps are much better to drive.

Look forward to the next blyton blast :D

You could have at least got my company name right...its Oscarli ; ) No wonder my search took so long to findthis thread??

Torque at 2k is high enough for the clutch/flywheel (as stated its not really happy with these figures anyway). However to make the most of the turbo's boost capability you may as well have all the torque possible, hence its at peak at 3k, at this point the car should have good momentum so not stress the clutch as much as it would at 2k with the whole weight of the car to get moving. Yes it would be nice to have a really high but flat torque curve.

Stealth have updated their dyno recently and reckon its about right now for diesels so the figures should be close enough. I wont bother going in to the "all dyno's are different" routine, I am sure we have all read it before? ; )

Good to meet you John and nice to have a customer who understands how to run a tuned car. It will be good to see the figures from another dyno if you get chance on a dyno day in the near future, I bet you cant wait for another track day now too!

Hi Richard,

Not sure if your a site sponsor as I've not looked :o But if you are is it worth posting up what services you can offer?

Cant wait to see John's car next :D

Are you running a standard clutch with this map then?

he got a sachs in it i think with organic plate, standard DMF, dont quote me on it thou,

When did you go there? They have just had a new RR put in and according to Richard Washbrook is pretty spot on

It was in Feb last year mate, my octy made over 270bhp with a stage 1 revo and carbonio intake :)

Your graphs look good and you sound really happy mate, and that is ALL that matters.

Good stuff John. I'll be over to see this soon :D:thumbup:

Steve

I am not a sponsor in any way (too tight for that ; )) and I am not one to shout too much about stuff. I would rather my customers do that bit for me : )

99% of my business is to trade so most of my work is branded as something else out there!

Sorry about the name :o Will remember that for future

The car is still running as sweet as a nut. I wasnt imagining the less amount of judder and shakes at idle, its definatley completely gone and completely weird as you said yourself you hadnt touched any of the idle.

Also the CEL hasnt come on for the egr bypass and I have done about 600 miles since and at least 3 scans with vag com.

It was very nice to meet you too Richard, you definatley know your stuff. Those Map graphs are just mind bogggling

I cannot stress how muh of a beast this car is now, its more than i expected it to be!! I had a nice run at the side of a 3.2 quattro TT (new shape) 268bhp i think and i pulled initially about 2-3 cars to 70 then he stuck with me to stupid figures but couldnt over take :D Was a nice bloke and i got the thumbs up when i eventually lifted and let him past :P

The torque at 3k is perfect! My clutch is fine and my DMF can be driven round quite easily. Its actually more enjoyable feeding the power in and hearing the turbo spool than giving it full boot.

Most of my passengers have commented on how smooth the car runs, the only way i can describe the car is jekyl and hyde. When you want it to be the car is very Oem, its responsive at low revs so gear changes are smooth and linear, its also doing around 45mpg combined since mapping so shes still good on the old jungle juice. Then when I am in the mood the car becomes a monster, it pulls like a train! wheel spins in 2nd and 3rd when the power comes in.

One Question Richard is Did you tweek the Traction control  Its miles less evasive! even with the extra power you have to really give it some beans to get it to flash and kick in which i really like :D

Will be visiting a RR in the very near future as we have a polo G40 running a stage 4 charger that needs setting up so will take the fabia at the same time and get that RRd at the same time, Will email you the graphs mate

I am more than over the moon with the service from Richard And I definatley recommend Oscarli and their tuning establishements to anyone!

Its been a struggle, spending days outside in the cold with sheared manifold studs and hours laid on my back in the garage balancing the gearbox above my head. But It has been more than worth it.

And the best thing is that apart from the mapping Ive done it all myself :)

Wow Talk about me waffling on, thats ones long post :o

you are indeed correct

Good to see another happy driver - to use someone's catchphrase.

Looks like you can have your cake and eat it.....

I don't know where those lame puns just came from, but I promise never to repeat them. :D

I've only ever heard excellent things about Richard, and if you were closer, I would have given you a go myself. (This isn't to say in any way that I am anything less than delighted with my map btw).

Glad you are enjoying the car Skud

:rolleyes:pffft...no excuse.....we have dealers all over that could have helped you out ;)

Now he tells me

I can't believe i've only just noticed this thread

John did indeed fly past me on his way back from Stealth (nice of you to flash mate...uh errr ;) ) Well done again with the figures, and your car looked great flying past.

Mine's off to Stealth on Wednesday for a Helix Clutch and SMF. Although it won't be gaining the power/torque of yours just yet... But defo in the future.

On another note, I live quite local to Stealth and between myself and friends have had many cars RR'd, Mapped and generally tweeked by Stealth and we've never had results that have seemed to be incorrect, or massively different from what we were expecting. Maybe it was just one of those freak occasions with the Octavia...who knows.

Neil

Glad to see people are coming round to the fact the Sachs and the DMF isnt up to much /\

Was not just me mate, Makefish's was on as well, but this is a bit OT and as long as the OP is happy then that's all that matters :)

could you post up your complete spec to get that figure please?

Why isnt it up to much:confused:

My car makes a hell of alot of torque and the sach is up to its job quite well. The dmf is a problem but i feel safer knowing the vibes from a smf wont kill my gearbox.

flywheel = 200

gearbox = alot more than 200 :P:rofl:

The forum would crash

Only kidding, main ones are forge fmic and turbo dynamics stage 2 hybrid. Then the mapping. and the sach clutch.

Not alot really but you add up the cost and see what change you have back from 3k ;)

Lets see how long it lasts

You yourself admitted that you have the wrong clucth, sachs is ample for 170/180 but any more like yourself i'd be wary

i agree your clutch is rubbish, you need one like mine:P;)
