Where to get VAG COM lead for 08 reg Octy II

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anybody know where to get the new VAG Com lead from, that will fit the new octy II.

Stu poined me at the Ross Tech site but the price is wayyy to high for me to justify getting one. Is there an alternative yet?

Thanks in advance

Lee

I'm afraid the only alternative is a 3rd party cable from ebay and the freeware version of Vagcom.

Which often won't work with CAN cars like the Octy II.

You get what you pay for, imo save that bit extra and get the real deal MicroCan. To be Frank at the current exchange rates you'd be daft not to!

Microcan will cost your around £125 here - VAG-COM License with Micro-CAN Interface: Ross-Tech Store and allow a bit for shipping and customs

You'll have it in 2 to 3 days.

You cannot get a legal version of VAG-COM for the Octy II other than a genuine Ross Tech Lead from either Ross Tech or Gendan who arre the UK disributer.

Well, I finally cracked and bought one from Gendan today. After shipping and customs and that I guess it'll have cost me £15 - £20 more than importing it.

Hope gendan sorted you out as he is a neighbour and a top bloke.Sorted out my felicia which now runs smooth as silk. Its a good job really hes just had baby so he has other things to worry about.

Got it today, sitting in the car playing with it right now

EDIT - :rofl:Don't take that the wrong way

sorry if this is a daft question, but where do ya plug the interface in on an Octavia II?

Look above the accelerator pedal.

its certainly worth it and cheaper than keep popping into the garage to do stuff. Also you can do some things that the garage cant do or wont do too!!

Stu,

You have to add £25 to that for delivery and another £26 for import duty....

ATB...

Yes that's about what I paid a couple of years ago.

So taking into account the slightly poor exchange rate you get from a credit card company it actually comes out the same as the Gendan price. Given that I ordered mine at lunchtime on Friday and had it at 10am Saturday, I say support Gendan!

Yes it does seem that Gendan may have reduced prices, there used to be a big difference between the two.

dont forget the high exchange rate that works in our favour too. ;)

I can confirm that Gendan did reduce their prices because of the exchange rate. Dean told me he was going to do that with his last order from us.
