Tyre Pressures - What are yours?

Featured Replies

I thought the sport and VRS were the same suspension (infact I'm fairly sure of this) with the exception that the VRS chassis has some bits in it to make it more rigid than the standard chassis.

NO; Sport suspension lowers a standard car by 30mm (same as Eibach springs) whereas vRS suspension is only 10mm lower; with appropriate difference in spring rates.

Sorry but I believe this is wrong.

Standard car with 'sport' springs will be 20mm lower than a vRS (30 - 10 = 20)

Sorry, misread your other post.

Fascinating thread . I own a Scout and learnt from my previous model ( 4*4 ) that

you have to continuously adjust the pressures according to conditions and usage .

I have found that the best method is to raise the pressures until my driving style does not loose grip on corners and then reduce it by 1 psi .

As far as the differentiation between front and rear I use the novel approach of driving over a rut - the thump should be comfortable and exactly the same front and rear , and this can be equalised very easily by tyre pressure .

Currently , carry roof bars and a kayak with gear in the boot and use

33 front 35 rear .

I have set all 4 tyres to 34 and can confirm that the car now drives and handles much better.

I think the key may be to keep an eye on the pressure.

I am still a little dissapointed with the ride quality on the whole mainly due to the road quality.

Well done; glad it works.

You will improve the ride quality significantly by fitting Koni FSDs, whilst improving handling response into the bargin - but that really is another matter.

Tell me about it we have some of crapist roads I've ever driven in our area !!!!
