Vista "Snipping Tool"

Featured Replies

I just found this app in Accesories in Vista. Tremendous fun (if you're extremely bored)

You can drag a cursor round a portion of a webpage, then add notes or highlight text, and save it as an image! magic!

Here's one I prepared earlier...

Very good

I've heard of it but never used it - until now.

Handy for quick screen shots.

whats it called? dunno if ive got it on my vista.

As thread title suggests, it's called Snipping tool, and is in Start => Programs => Accessories.

I didn't know it existed

Although as a techie screenshot capture tool, it does have its limits. For example, if you want to capture menu lists accessed by clicking on toolbars, you can't :(

However, with the old Print Screen button, you can ;) although you lose the mouse cursor to highlight.

I found a version of the snipping tool that works with XP today : Snippy

It's not quite as straight forward though. After you install the app, you'll see a black pair of scissors in the App tray. Click on the scissors to start snipping, press shift before you drag makes it into a blue rectangle instead of freehand. When you let go, the rectangle disappears, then you have to right click on the scissors and click Save As to select a destination for your image.

i havent got it on mine :(

oooh there's a thing like that on mac os too but i cant remember where it is now
