Pre end of warranty niggle fix list

My warranty is up in a few weeks, so nipping to the dealers with a list of niggles I'd like looking at. Any comments / ideas and suggestions of other things worth checking while I've got the chance would be very welcome.

  • Squeeky gear shift across gate to left from neutral and up into first - too much vibration on this too? - intermittent?
  • Resonating vibration ~1100RPM - heat shield / fuel filter / air intake pipe at the front of the engine cover / engine ECU bracket vibrating under the scuttle trim? Fixed for one person by as follows.. "Vibration, coming from front of air box to heat exchanger, removed it and re-fixed with trim and sealant"
  • Driver door exterior handle gets stuck in out (open position) - intermittent.
  • Broken driver door interior handle (lifts up when pulling door closed).
  • Peeling silver finish on dash storage bin.
  • Rear wiper washer not working.
  • Fault code logged for intermittent fault on drivers side wiper.
  • Intermittent clicking from climate control behind dash - fix is newer version of software on the Climate Eprom to change the settings for the motors also maybe solenoids.
  • Sometimes warm starts seem to take a lot of effort and when it catches and fires up it shudders loudly and violently. Other times it starts without drama.
  • Intermittent creaking from suspension (mainly rear) going over speed bumps. It's done this for as long as I've had the car but I expect they'll say it's not covered.

Going into Bickertons tomorrow morning for the master tech to have an initial look at it before them having it properly the following Saturday. Hope they're good, if they're ok to deal with I think I'm going to order a new Superb in September through them.

I wonder if some of this would be covered by warranty as its "wear and tear" although i share some of your probs!

  • Mines does this a little too!
    Driver door exterior handle gets stuck in out (open position) - intermittent.
    WD40 resolved this for me!
  • Peeling silver finish on dash storage bin.
    This happened on mine, but would warranty cover it as i bought it used?

    Yep, my car struggles with warm starts, but doesnt shudder violently

Will you be taking the car to Bickertons for these warranty issues? I only ask, as my experience with them regarding warranty issues is terrible. I took mine in for airbag light, and I told them on the first time it will be the connectors under the seats. All they did was turn the light off with vag com. It took 3 visits before they changed them. Anyway, regarding your issues, my door handle sticks in the out position sometimes, and they never did anything about it when i mentioned it whilst it was in for the air bag light, they will just say it was ok when they tried it. In my experience, they will try and get out of doing any work they can. Best of luck. Damian.

Why wouldn't a dealer repair complaints, ( if car was bought new from that dealer) Who reimburses the dealers ? or does Skoda head office have a policy on this issue ??

Yes, I'll be taking it into Bickertons first thing this saturday morning to show the master technician so they should be able to get parts in ready for the following saturday, minimise the messing about.

It's my first time using Bickertons and I'll be writing a review positive or negative in the dealership reviews and here.

BTW, their Oil prices inc. Shell Ultra Helix VX 506.01 long life are amazing. I bought my oil from Opie Oils and was very surprised to find I could have saved a fortune getting it from Bickertons.

Good post..... It's debatable whether all would be done under warranty as mentioned above.

Re: Bickertons it depends who you speak to and how confident you are when telling them..... If possible try and speak to Vanessa as she is very helpfull and if not sure maybe ask to speak with one of the service managers themselves to discuss any faults that may seem a little strange etc....

I did this when i had a problem with the drivers window rattling and it got done.
