Powered polishers

Featured Replies

Sorry, I'm new to this 'powered polishing!" I was thinking of getting a rotary polisher but am baffled as to which to buy I have seen a cheap one by the RAC in Argos, but would this do the same job as a more expensive one?

Thanks for any help

New to it myself :o Unless you are experianced you need a da orbital polisher then you are less likely to burn the paint. Depending of course on what you are wanting to do, a cheap Halfords jobbie might be ok for just buffing off wax etc, but for paint correction you need something a little more robust and adjustable, also that is going to last you a while. I bought a meg g220 which I am very happy with, others go for the PC or UDM all around the £150 mark.

No doubt others will be along to correct me if I am wrong :o

No don't buy a cheap one and to be honest I'd be after a dual action rather than a rotary if you are new as these have less change of going too far and damaging the paint.

Detailing world has lots on this

This is the place to be if you are interested in Polishing..........

It does however depend what you want the polisher for? If you just want to wax and buff off then a cheap polisher is fine but if you want to do paint correction then you really need a DA Polisher or Rotary......

If you look in the classifieds on DW you will also find some people selling on their old machines at good prices............

Well I got a cheap halfords random orbital one a couple of years ago for a birthday present and it seems to work OK for me for general day to day stuff. Took a while to get used to it but gives a good enough shine for me!
