Service

Featured Replies

Well i called customer gervices yesterday cause the vRS is coming up to a year old (this Sunday) and i wanted to check if i needed to book it in for a service so as not to invalidate my warranty.

As the sticker in the front of the service book has QG1 in the bottom left corner they told me the service intervals would be 24months or 19K miles.

Fine i thought, a bit longer than i would have expected but no probem.

Then i flick through a couple of pages and find the delivery check box from the dealers it was first sold from, they had stamped the box to say al was fine but put the next service interval would 10K miles.

So after head scratching for a few minutes i called them.

Apparently i know have 2 choices, either leave the car alone and wait for 19K or the car to tell me it needs a service, or take it into a dealers at 10K miles.

So, as i dont think a car should run for more than 10K miles on any oil its going in then. I asked about the 12month old thing and they told me not to worry.

So, theres a party on the hill, can you come !?

That's exactly what I'm doing with mine. I have all the good stuff put in, longlife oils etc, but have it done religiously every 10k.

Just had the 20k service done......I think on the comparible service I had for the Vectra I saved about

If the dealer has indicated that a service is due at 10K, they should have recoded the instrument panel to QG2 so that the service interval display gives the correct indication of when a service is due - ie 1 year or 10K, whichever is the sooner. I suggest you go back to the dealer who sold you the car and ask them to check what service regime your car is set for.

thats a good point DGW, i'll give them a call...

what sort of buffer does the service display give you before it starts indicating when your due ??

atm its on 7746 miles

Also, what do you all pay for servicing ?

IIRC mine gave a 1000 mile countdown starting one month before the 2yr/20K service was due. The car was serviced one week early with 9623 miles on the clock. Incidentally, the service warning only appears for a few seconds each time you start the car.

Afew seconds? It's a good minute in the Fabia, and the Polo says it constantly till it is reset

yeah, i knew it came on for a few seconds when you first turn the ignition on, but obviously havent got enough miles on it yet.

Thanks for the info though.

Heres my regime.

Change the oil every 5K miles and a full service every 10K miles. All done at private garage.

If u dont drive the car hard very often then the 5K mile oil change is not really required!
