Energy Saving Plug Sockets

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a couple of these energy saving socket adaptors and wondered if anyone could recommend one to me? I need one for the PC + peripherals and one for the AV setup in the lounge.

They seem to fall into two categories, the little ones that you plug your main device into and then the peripherals can be plugged into normal adapters either side.

Or there's the big 8 way adapters that have all sorts of master and slave type sockets built in with timers and bells and whistles.

I simply want to turn the PC off and make sure everything else is off (not standby) as well.

And I also want to turn my TV off and then everything else switches off afterward. I know you have to keep the Sky box on standby for some reason.

IntelliPanel.

You plug the PC in to the marked socket and when you turn the PC off and the current draw drops below a certain level on that socket, everything else gets turned off.

The sky you could plug directly into the wall and use one of them to turn off the rest.

I used this one from Maplins for £14.99.

They work a treat. I had an 8 way adapter plugged into the perihperal socket to turn off monitors, speakers, phone chargers etc.

The only shame is I moved and can't use it for the computer anymore as we have so many powercuts I needed a UPS.
