Ok what am i doing wrong?????

Featured Replies

Well i ordered some snow foam and one of the bottle attachments to use it from cleanyourcar.co.uk the other month and just got round to using it today...... Now i'm wondering if i am doing something completely wrong because after seeing pictures of peoples cars using snow foam and the fact it covers them in a thick soapy foam mine was just like soapy water!!!

I started out with just a cm or so of SSF in the bottle and topped it up with water...... That came out just like water.....

Then i made my way through to the point of just putting about 2 inches of SSF in the bottle with no water and that came out as shown in the video i've linked to. Now bearing in mind that it's 100% un-diluted SSF and the 2 inches or so lasted about 3 minutes at most as you can see it isn't exactly a thick coating of foam.

I've attached pics of the items i'm using.

What am i doing wrong???

Dave you may well live in a hard water area, although I can't really see Chap differing that much from Thorpe as we have really soft water over here (all 1.5 miles away:rofl:)

Seriously though, can you get a decent foam on when washing dishes etc?

I recently bought a snow foam lance & snow foam liquid from Cleanyourcar. I bought the lance that fits onto the Karcher pressure washer.

I put 1cm snow foam & 1cm of Megs shampoo plus & topped up the bottle with luke warm water.

It worked perfectly.

Ahh the pics your referring to of thick foam are from a foam lance in conjunction with a prssure washer.

The supersprayer unfortunately won't get the thick foam you've seen.

Try an inch of SSF and a couple of capfuls of your car shampoo and fill the rest up with warm water and spray onto a dry car:thumbup:...gives a good pre-soak although not as pleasing on the eye as the thick snow:rofl:

Cheers for the replies guys...... I'll give it another go next time one of the cars needs washing..... Will add some Meguirs gold class to the snow foam.

Does it make any difference adding warm water ??? Would have thought the amount of cold water it is mixing with would cancel it out etc.... Or is that just me being dim @ 0145 in the morning? :o

Have to say give both a go and see, I've personally found it does make it better..more sudsy if that makes sense. You may well find it makes no difference @ all.

As mentioned you wont get massive foam with one of those, however it will be useful as a pre-soak.

Warm water doesnt make an real difference IME.

I tend to use warm water though as ill fill the wash bucket up then fill the container with foam and water

The temperature of the water doesn't particularly matter.

To be honest, spend the money and get a foam lance. They are absolutely brilliant.

Which one are you using again Gilly?

Autobrite, and their SSF is the dogs, and so is their non-acidic wheel cleaner.

Well i think i just made my thread pointless now anyway.....

After umming & ahhhing for ages i think i'm gonna get a pressure washer when i next get paid..... Probably the Karcher K380 at £130 and then get a foam lance for it..... I must admit in the last 2 or 3 years i think i have gone through about 6 or 7 hoselock style guns for the end of the hose pipe and at least the pressure washer can be used for other things other than the car.

When you get it though just remember your are actually trying to wash to car not cover the car in the thickest foam possible :D

Agreed, although thick foam is fun...

I tend to wind the dial back on my lance so it's more watery.

Here's a pic of my old Octy, it's sat for a minute or two before i took the pic, but this is the level of "foamyness" that i find works best for me.
