I have a 1.9TDi that has a worn bearing type sound on start up for about 30-60 seconds. I can't make out exacty where it is coming from only the area around where the cambelt is. Does anyone have information on what it might be from previous experience of bearing wear in this area?

Are you sure it isnt the secondary air pump kicking in for that time. Would have thought a worn bearing would make the noise continually.

my octavia made a worn bearing sound on the first 10 min of start up, but then 2 days later my engine mount gave way and when the garage investigated the cambelt tensioner kit had been fitted wrong, so was probaly that, as it sounds sweet as a nut now.
