How quick are Seat Arosas?

Featured Replies

Just asking as I came up against one of these this morning on the way to work. There was a brief opportunity for us to have a mutual head to head - all within the NSL of course - and I think we were both surprised. Me because he was so quick and him because a Skoda got round him.

It was lowered, had a single exit stainles exhaust, Ronal Turbo alloys and sounded a 'bit different'. What transplants can they squeeze in there? On my daily commute, there isn't much to give a Mk1 vRS any trouble round here, but this lad's car was quick.

You can get a VR6 in them...

Most likely a tuned 1.4 TDI... Lupos/Arosas way f*ck all :)

I believe I've seen a 1.8t conversion mentioned

Yeah, a fair few of them around!

But that would have completely wiped the floor with you!

not the 150bhp one?

If you're going to go through an engine transplant, it's highly unlikely that you're gonna leave it standard!

I'm sure it wasn't a diesel as there wasn't any smoke and I've since remembered that he had a 16v badge on the back.

Could it be a standard car then?

16v badge would incicate a Sport - 1.4 16v Petrol.. 100bhp (although the engines in the Lupo/Arosa Sport were all very strong)...

Could be making 115bhp-ish?

Did they do a version of the arosa like the lupo gti ?

Nope :)

Nope.

Quite a few Lupo / Arosas around with 1.8T power. IIRC Jabba used to race one :D

Ah yeah just been googling. Didn't realize the lupo gti was only 125bhp.

erm..... yes actually, but they were never available in the uk:) only in in spain iirc, they had the same lupo gti 125bhp engine..

they had bucket seats too, and no rear seats, right from the factory

Sure he hadn't dropped the engine from a Lupo GTI into it. Same car, so it would fit and be seriously quick.

I've just checked on Parkers and they are 910kg, making it 109bhp/tonne whereas the vRS is 1375kg and 130bhp/tonne. There is a bit of difference and this was shown on the road as I did get round him, but not as easily as you might think.

In fact I let him in front of me at a junction in the hope he would go the same way a me and be up for a bit of automotive banter. I'd seen the car around a few times and wondered how it performed.

Now I know.:D

People fit M45 Eaton blowers (From the BMW 1/2 Series) to them too! Takes 'em to about 150bhp!

More than likely a chipped 1.4 16V! They are Nippy little buggers

Register on Club Lupo and see if he is a member on there!More than likely is and it'll satisfy your curiosity!

If he could've kept in a straight Line :D They are suicidal to drive!

probably justa sport 16v 9 seconds to 60.

They are nippy little buggers, my mate has a lupo 1.4 16v and its just as quick as the gti ones

Nippy little bugger sums it up perfectly. Just shows how the vRS isn't the jet engined power house that some people think.....

Things may have been a little different at 130 mph plus , I imagine! ;)
