100 quid ebay remap

Featured Replies

hi all

No doubt there are some threads on this subject but i bit the bullet and sacrificed 100 quid in the name of research.

First impression, what a bargin! Graphs below:

I would be interested to hear your comments.

I'm having trouble reading that graph, can you explain it?

I would suggest getting that on a proper rolling road and get a full print out of true bhp / lb ft torque/ afr /and boost plot.

pink is torque

blue is RPM

sorry its not the best graph in the world. should be torque against rpm.

I think your graph is wrong, as it def doesn't make 350+ lb/ft :)

So on a Mk1 Octy vRS you reckon its giving nearly 350 lb ft torque with just a £100 remap ??????....It just cannot do this.

Again, get it on a proper RR and see the true amounts.

Where did you get the remap from????

is it a graph from a TD engine?

then i might.

I think he must mean NM which would put it @ 260lb/ft which is possible.

This remap was from ecuevolution, newport

it was a postal remap £107 quid including p+p

For this money i aint gunna complain!

RR would give correct values i know, but to be honnest, its very quick and thats all that matters to me! besides there isn't one for miles where i live.

Vag com reports these values.

cheers

have you got any mods to ur car mate?

how do they get that much torque?

most ive had was 202 but the map was throwin codes that seemed fast tho. id love to have 260

not sure what the map i got on now has but it is not as much as the old one i had.

I am not far from newport. wales.

I had mine remapped recently by a well known tuning company.

When they downloaded my current map, they found that it had already been "remapped" but badly. Injection & boost pressure had been modified, but that was it. A lot more parameters have to be modified for it to be done correctly.

The guy said it was proberly a cheap map from ebay & I would see a difference when his map is uploaded.

Needless to say, he was right & the difference between the two are worlds apart.

I'm not saying that all cheap remaps are like this, but I would be very wary of them.

Not sure what map is contained but what i can tell you is they never opend the ECU, it was done on the bench and programmed via its connection port that the wiring harness inserts into.

No fault codes and ive been driving in hard and normal conditions for 3 days!

I think they only offer a postal service, so even if you live close you would have to send your ecu away. I think its alot more expensive if you take the car to em.

Maybe so,

Facts are im producing alot more torque and hp than i was, and it cost me nawt when compared to some of the prices offered.

Boost pressure spikes at roughly 20psi and holds at 14-15psi (roughly)

don't forget we're talking a 100quid here, i wouldn't expect it to be better than something 3 times the price... but still, not bad for the dough!

As long your happy with it, that's all that counts!;)

I have the £100 remap from ecu evolution.

Chris is an excellent guy and i would highly recommend him. He has changed the company which he used to get his files from since he did mine but i will be getting his new file in the near future hopefully.

I know who did and do now supply his files but iam not sure he would want me to say on the forum. Take it from me he used and continues to use top quality files.

And i'll be very surprised if he can continue doing them at £100, as that is SERIOUSLY undervaluing the product!!!!

Either he has a library of files or buys a lot as I'd be surprised if he can buy them for much less than £100 and thus make it worth doing.

I don't for one moment want to suggest that there is anything wrong with your remap and in fact it may be excellent however you may find that £100 now is £1100 next month when you look for a new turbo. As long as you understand the risks then you can be prepared.
