Optional extras

Featured Replies

If you were to buy a non vRS Fabia from new, would it have been possible to have the vRS alloys put on under optional extra alloy wheels?

I don't see why not, but it would have cost a pretty penny.

Why do you ask? Wondering whether you need to declare them to your insurance company? I have fitted vRS alloys and haven't declared them as they are OEM wheels designed specifically for a Skoda Fabia.

You have a duty to tell your insurance company of any facts or changes in your circumstances which may affect the way they assess your policy. Changing the wheels as you have done is a material fact they may well wish to be aware of since your car is now non-standard.

I have octy alloys essentially a skoda wheel yes? but ive declared them. better safe than sorry

I don't think you would have been able to factory order with vRS wheels, perhaps you could have bought them from the dealer though.

Yea I was wondering what to put them under for my insurance.

I want to declare them as they aren't Standard, and it's better safe than sorry.

I think I can have them under:

Manufacturers Alloys

Manufacturers Alloys Optional

Alloys (in general)

My insurer charges me £30 to declare a mod, so they've got no chance until my policy is due for renewal.

Id put them under 'manufacturers alloys' , as they are not listed as an option in the official Acessories book. It would have been possible to order them from a dealer , I did the same kind of thing on an Escort in the 80s , I ordered some RS Turbo wheels for it but they werent in the book.
