Question about the Vrs

Featured Replies

Hello all,

First post and all that....

Anyway I am thinking of buying a Fabia Vrs and have a few questions after trawling the forums.

I am currently running a Impreza and the first mods for this was a full decat system to improve the breathing, reading some posts on here people mention turbo spikes when running a decat system?? is there something different about a Tdi that causes problems with this?

Also much talk about clutch slip, is this still only a problem with the generic maps? or is it a problem once you go over a certain Hp?

I have had import cars for the last 8 years so not sure on warrantee issues; I presume the warrantee is transferable? As I am looking for a 2006/2007 car?

Also I have never owned a VAG car before so was unsure about wheels, do all VW, Audi etc wheels have the same fitments? Or is there things I need to look out for when looking for wheels for a Fabia?

Oh and by the way I really like this forum especially the technical guides forum its great that people are adding the help guides with photos and info, really good.

I am sure there are more questions but this will do for now.

Thanks,

Paul.G

Firstly welcome to Briskoda.

Warrantee is transferable yes so you will be fine with that.

Remapping a fabia most companies recommend a new clutch due to the extra torque.

As for wheels the Fabia has 5x100 wheels so are the same as the MK1 Octavia MK4 Golf MK1 Leon and MK1 A3 to name a few

Thanks Matt,

Is it a 3 year Warrantee on the Fabia?

and what are the servicing costs like?

Not sure if to go for one just out of Warrantee so I can add some mods :D

fabia wheel fitment is 5x100, the newer vags have 5x108

Welcome to Briskoda mate.....

Yes the warranty is 3 years 60,000 miles.

We have 2 fabia vRS's after the mrs liked mine so much she got rid of her type-R to get anopther one!!!!!

I've had the 10,000 & 20,000 mile services on mine and they were both in the £100-200 price bracket. The mrs's has had it's 30,000 mile service and i think that was also just under £200. They were all done at a dealer.

If you shop around you can get them cheaper though through VAG specilist garages..... There are quite a few about.

Cheers

Dave.

If you post up your location we can then recommend some places for servicing

birmingham is mine, any places that are good for me?

Turbo spike can pe a problem.

Not so bad on your Impreza, as the turbo on them are good for big(ish) bhp anyway.

The fabia turbo will need a little more love than the scooby's.

Newer Vags (Octy II, Golf Mk V and others) are 5 * 112 IIRC.

Not sure which are 5 * 108

Thanks for the replys,

I am in stoke on trent, I know there is a dealer in Maccalsfeild?? are they any good?

Whats the thinking with the turbo spikes does it occur on weak turbos/always with decat downpipes+ big hp/ or can it happen on any spec?

Thanks,

Paul

my mistake, got muddled up with my old car, its 5x112

Just when you think the spelling can't get any worse.

It does.

Sorry old man

I've got a Jabbasport generic map and I've never experienced any clutch slip. I think it's if you really start pushing the mark with 170bhp + and wana launch off the line at every opportunity you're going to notice the slipping.

What BHP is the Jabba generic?

Congratulations on the thread ressurection. Not a record but still a good effort.

Have you tried the search? Or the dealer section?

...definately a garage...

Yeh i have searched the site, cant find anything... hence the post. Taking a chance on a dealer in BILSTON near Wolverhampton, service manager was very helpful with my questions. The car is booked in for next week so guess we will see how it goes.
