PM StuartJ, he's done it at least twice and is doing it again this year.

www.cannonballruneurope.co.uk will answer a lot of your questions.

PM Me if you want any more info

Be prepared to write off either your car or its engine, Wrighty. If you aren't, don't go. (no I haven't been, but this is my conclusion from reading Stuart, etc.'s posts. Sorry Stuart if this seems harsh).

would love to do this but finding a spare 3 grand could be a problem..... and thats before petrol and barbills

starting a new piggy bank tommorrow :D

I'm going to be present when they start again... if only to let Mrs Q get used to it... cos one day I shall be doing it myself!

Yes ....................I'd like to see you get permission for that one Q :D

How long do the effects of chloroform last? Can you keep someone under for more than 5 days? :D

Dunno , I suppose it depends on how much you use :D.....I should get a BIG bottle !

We should put a Briskoda entry in one year in and old Felicia or something.

Get a team together & mod something, on the first Cannonball there was an old BMW 2002 with M3 bits shoehorned in, definate wolf in sheeps clothing

Nick, it can cost a fortune in repairs if you choose the wrong vehicle or try & drive beyond your ability. On last years event 3 vag cars went, A Seat Cupra, A TT & my Skud, all fairly lightly modded or standard & none had any major mechanical failures.

The mechanical failures were generally on the more modified or exotic cars (Ferraris arent reliable !)

As far as prangs are concerned, yes a lot of cars got bent & a few were totalled but 90% of those were caused by people treating it as a sprint & not as a long term event, you honestly dont need to drive at 100% all the time. We managed what I think was a respectable 19th & that included a lot of one leg carying the film crew & also helping others with mechanical problems.

Those who had the most fun didnt treat it as a race, just a test of endurance & a chance to do the sort of thing that in a few years will be banned in Europe

am very interested,am sorting out if i can find the funds at the moment.

shouldn't be to much trouble but got to be careful still, bills to pay etc.

how many from this site are involved this year?

I'd love to do it too.

Perhaps we should try and sort something for next year, get sponsorship etc.

May even be able to get a dealer to give us a second hand motor if we can get enough publicity.

The Cannonball is quite costly but good fun. There are no cash prizes so be prepared to hand over

Downloaded the 60mb video of White Lightning's 2003 run - seems like a complete hoot if you have the spare cash .

Some of the guys from the FTO Owners club (other car) did a holiday Euro run last summer after JAE meet, wished i'd been able to go as Howard videoed his run through the tunnel @ Montecarlo - you can see people turn as the V6 howls :D

Maybe a 'RUN' in the UK would suit us lower powered Furby owners ?

ttfn Karl

Do it this year if you are thinking about it, next years may well cost a lot more !!

There are events half the price but most people do the Cannonball simply to say "I did it". Other Euro rallies for a similar period of time start at
