Mobiles - have they peaked?

Featured Replies

Agree with Blade, Nokia 8210 was a lovely phone - too expensive for me, though, so I had to do with the 3210 which also was nice.

Here's my first "mobile" from 1992 with a lead battery giving about 2 hrs standby/15 mins talk:

What a relief when the GSM system was built and I could change into this slim beauty (Hey, you  I'm talking about the phone :D)

I use the wifi at work, it acts as my main mp3 player, it acts as my only digital camera, and I use it as a mobile gaming machine.

To me, this is what makes a mobile phone. A proper multifunction device, not just something to ring with.

If you just want a phone to ring with and good battery life, then get a Motorola mr20. I had one when they first came out. Battery lasts for over a week, but then you can't fit it in your pocket.

My Htc TyTn II is my mobile office and essential for my business. I do use the GPS on occasion, Bluetooth for my car and wifi when necessary. I also use the camera quite a lot for archiving rigs. But, it is called a ‘Mobile Phone’ the clue is in the title. If I wanted an ipaq or similar, I would have got one. I wanted exactly the machine I’ve got and by and large it works very well. I just wish the battery lasted longer. Missing a phone call can cost a lot of money as can missing an email.
