ideas for my 2.0 fsi sport

Featured Replies

I have some ideas for my car, just wondering if anyone can answer them?

1. Is the exhaust system the same as on the vrs? does it take the same path under the car too?

2. Revo tuning? is one actually available for a 2.0 fsi engine (non turbo)

3. Any one tried bluefin?

4. last is there a way of tuning via vag com?

Tuning none turbo cars is very expensive for little reward. You'd be better off saving your money and putting it towards a vRS.

Turbo.

Im not so much looking at maxing it out, just better response and flat spots removed. As much as i was going to get a vrs the garage being the you will buy a blue vrs and blue only were the reason why i never bothered buying one in the end.

There is no VAG-COM way of altering the engine settings directly. Not recommended unless you know exactly what you are doing.

You are fairly limited with an N/A engine :(

Save your money Paul. As already said with a N/A car you are very limited to what you can do and the modifications you are looking at will make very little difference considering the outlay. Put any spare cash toward a non Race Blue vRS, Yellow is THE colour to get or indeed the Red has grown on me since Tom got his

You cannot mess with the engine management side of things with VagCom and even if you could, I wouldn't :P

Like ive said above im looking to just smooth out the rev range to remove flat spots (unless the visit to skoda in a few months time for a service has a new ecu update to sort it) and to give it a sportier sound, now really to fussed about more torque, bhp or lowering it etc and certainly dont want a blue car (sorry stu). perhaps if the garage had sold me what i wanted instead of trying to sell me what i didnt want i would have originally gone for a red or black vrs, but grey gables at witney insisted i wanted a blue vrs with bigger wheels and a jumbo pack and that i wouldnt want xenons on the car nor would i wont black paint and that i would want blue after i bought it (still dont to common plus i think the vrs only looks good in black or red).

Back to the exhaust question, is the exhaust the same as the vrs (the route it takes under the car and back box as i want to give the car a sportier sound (again i am not interested in bhp gain) just so it sounds a bit better than the tinny sound it sounds at moment, but i dont want the car being deafening either.

The front pipe will probably be different. You might be able to have a CAT back.

thats what im looking at stu as its just a sportier sound i want. the sportyish sound i did have from mine went after a few months.

what exhaust does hedge have as i like the sound of that one?

Would it be worth trying to source a vRS one from somone who has upgraded?

Hedge has a standard exhaust IIRC.

what does a standard one sound like? ive kinda fallen in love with the sound of hedges ever since i followed him up the M4 slip road last year and i like the sound of the vauxhall vxr ones too.

Sounds pretty much like Hedge's

Lucky me.

As said before it is a compleyely standard exhaust and cat, just has more gas going through it..... ;)

it does look different to standard from the back.

Thats because it's filthy.

Paul, in the very near future a complete vRS exhaust amongst other vRS components will be posted on the for sale forum.i know first hand that the exhaust only did 180miles on the car.

any videos to hear what it sounds like ? im now getting impatient for the oxon meet as i want to hear some of the different exhausts to hear what they all sound like.

Try this video snip grom Milltek

really need to hear a standard one against it, but thanks anyway (not that i dont appreciate every ones help).

If you're looking at upgrading suspension I've got my original vRS Dampers, Springs and rear ARB.

Not needed since I upgraded to the Koni/Eibach combo a few weeks ago... and taking up space in the garage.

I'll be selling my car with the mods on in a few months... so I've got no use for all the old bits if you want them... for a not extortionate amount of money

How about....

5. Take said 2.0fsi Sport to a local Skoda dealership... ask them how much to px for a new/used VRS...... strike a deal..... job done

:iagree:

Exhaust probably takes the same path but with (perhaps) subtle variations of silencer type/size. You could perhaps look at a 'custom' system from the likes of PowerFlow and Pipewerks.

Remaps will be possible (I had one done on a Fabia 1.4mpi even) but the power gains will not be as much as with a Turbo system; expect to get a 10% improvement in power/torque.

Worth investing in an Induction kit perhaps; this should give you around 6 - 10bhp extra and a bit more using 98/99 octane fuel (if you don't already).

I know you have the eibach/fsd combo but a good uprated rear ARB would be very worthwhile.

Hope that helps.

PS> I haven't stated the obvious of getting a vRS; as I dare say you have already considered and rejected this move for a variety of reasons.
