How about....

5. Take said 2.0fsi Sport to a local Skoda dealership... ask them how much to px for a new/used VRS...... strike a deal..... job done

how bout i dont want a vrs, i cant afford a vrs as i have to keep this for four years and please read the thread again, i dont want to max out the power, all i want to do is smooth the rev range to remove the flat spots and get a sportier sound. i have no need for a vrs as there is no where around here that it would benefit me.

I have already spoken to someone who can get me a cracking deal if i do want a vrs, but at moment i dont unless you want to give me yours.

Has anyone suggested trading in for a vRS? ;)

If you want to smooth out power, I reckon a nice cat-back resonated exhaust, maybe Magnex, and a panel filter should sort you out, with perhaps a remap after that if you find its still not smooth enough. That will probably unlock a few extra horsies too, maybe about 10BHP, although modding a NA engine is expensive for little gain. But if you do those it should smooth out your power, I recommend you start out with the Filter, as that may even do the trick!

Why not ring up a specialist garage/tuning company, I'm sure there are plenty that would be happy to relieve you of your hard earned cash. Take a look at some of our partners, all very respectable and will offer first class advice.

Paul, in all seriousness, only thing I'd suggest you look at first before doing anything to the engine is get an insurance quote with some of the mods you've got in mind.

What fuel are you using? The FSI's run much smoother and with noticably better response with quality super unleaded and will be alot cheaper than the cost of a remap, associated insurance premium increase and possible voided warranty.

Motorsport Developements in Blackpool can remap virtually any car fitted with an ECU. They may be able to provide a custom map to suit your requirements. They have a very good reputation especially in the Ford scene.

Might be worth a try? May be costly for little power gain but improve drivability and fuel consumption.
