New Tyres

Featured Replies

I was running 4 Avon ZZ3's, but 2 became defective in under a year. I now have 2 Avon's on the rear and 2 Continental Sport Contact 3's on the front.

I am looking to replace the Avon's with Continentals ASAP.

Zero, I like the Toyos, with one word of caution. They need to be a couple of PSI up on the book figures, to prevent endge wear.

Richie, many moons ago, a mate of mine put Avons on his XR3, and had issues with sidewall cracking. His initial complaint was met with "you must be driving too fast", em with H rated tyres on a car that wouldn't go over 110?

Ohh err. Mine were "distorted" which was worrying as they were under a year old, had 6mm of tread and only covered 17800 miles............

Sounds like they've not improved any then.

I have Conti's on the front at the min, there ok i suppose. Just didn't know if there was anything any better out there was all.

Got T1R's all round on our Furby, been on for a year now and no complaints. Ran then on my Civic Type R for a number of years too.

Cheers

Falken FK452.

Cheap and grippy with good life for such a tyre. Good in the wet and dry too IMHO.

They are about £60-70 a corner and if you don't like them then you can always just fun them to about half life over the summer and change them.

Quite a few people on here run them

Down side is they do take a while (say 500-1000 miles) to break in and get rid of the release coating.

I ran two avons on the vRS and one of them fell apart (a big cut on the inside of the tyre at about the pint where the wall would join the tread... no visible sign from the outside, apart from the vibration and humming noise! tyre place said they had gone oval !

I have bridgestone potenza's on the back and neuton NT5000's on the front.... all well at the moment!

Depends on your budget really. Toyo T1Rs are very good (or I thought so on the Fabia) and I like the Goodyear GSD3s as well.

I've got some Falken 452s on the Golf at the minute and they are good for the money so I'd recommend them if you want something a bit cheaper.

As I mentioned in another thread, I'd have a look at Camskill if you're buying online. Generally quite a bit cheaper than blackcircles

Thanks for that tdirob, they are quite a bit cheaper than the other place.

I was looking around the £70-£80 per tyre mark from online. Looks like i'll have to stay away from the Proxys then from some of the storys on here!

Toyo T1R wear too fast.

Done 7k on mine and only about 3mm left now.

I dont wheelspin everywhere either.

Im running Michelin Pilot Exalto's all round on my wife's vrs (18" oz's) done about 500 miles on them now cannot fault them...

Previously ran yoko parada spec 2's which were v.good also...

The PE2 are great, but the Falken are IMHO very close and a lot cheaper.

I think you've got confused here; we were saying that Avons seem to be a bit dodgy.
