The next level........

Featured Replies

Well i think he's finally lost the plot ......

But good luck to you, it sounds amazing:thumbup:

i do think your going to struggle to use it in the dry let alone the wet/snow/ice/corners/uneven road.

best of luck though.

in all seriousness steve, without wanting to sound like i'm moaning or anything as i'm not, i'm all for bigger and better but surely sometimes it gets OTT.

serious question now, in the dry and/or wet at what speed/gear can you floor it without getting traction issues? as it won't get any better with another 100bhp.

I do agree with Bengie in that you will probably have a little  trouble putting all that power down altough that 6 speed box does have very long gear ratio's, I remember the thread you put up with what speeds were achived in which gear but at the end of the day the decision is yours and I can't wait to read how the work is going and what it's like afterwards.

The plan.......

Gearbox will be coming out in 2 weeks time for stripping, new dogs ****** Sachs clutch and flywheel to go in.

Will be ordering:

  • JE pistons - 83mm bore (1900cc) and a compression ratio of 8.75:1
  • Pauter rods with 20mm wrist pins
  • Inconel/nitrade valves (20)
  • Some fancy inlet manifold
  • Methanol/water snow kit from Jabba

Items to be fitted over the summer.

Trip to Jabba (Autumn time) for:

  • 628cc injectors
  • New turbo inlet pipe work
  • Garratt/IHI hybrid
  • Re-map

Trip to solicitors to update my will.......

With my diesel gearbox I am hoping putting the power down will be a touch easier than with the very short ratios of the petrol 6 speed box.

The plan is at least 450bhp and 400 ibs/ft torque.

I want something ridicules, insane, but completely standard ish looking, a real Ferrari 430 /911 GT2 killer. Something to stick up the exhaust pipes of 100K+ super cars........the quest for the ultimate in reverse snobbery continues.

Do it!!

I use my wife’s 4x4 if it's icy/snowy etc. We only really need 1 car at the moment so mine has become the weekend toy which doesn't need to be practical......or sensible for that matter!!

Traction with my last set of Dunlop’s was $hit, could set the traction control off in the dry at 60mph in 2nd when flooring it, and even at 85mph going into 3rd in the wet..... New Pirellis are 1000 times better, it is actually quite useable, although the engine is off the boil at the moment hence my trip to Jabba this weekend (and to pick up my new Sachs clutch/flywheel kit:D), this has probably made it feel more useable....

In the wet I just don't even bother giving it any stick, I enjoy my life and wouldn't want to ruin it for the sake of trying to arrive at my destination 10 minutes earlier, if I’m late, I’m late, end of story.
