the usual way that s[rings are lowered is by cutting out equal segments using an oxy torch. Or the locals here heat and soften a sgment to let the car sag down.

It's pretty rough - you lose the progressive nature of the springs. Clamping off a segment would have a similar effect.

Better get proper springs tbh...
