Hi guys i can see that a new firmware is out 4020/4026/4028/4024  .
Anyone with more info welcome to tell us.

You will find many improvements, including greater speed during navigation (zoom, rotation phase, etc), greater speed for the "Manual Destination Input Navigation, almost perfect stability of the" entire operation "RNS, better retroilluminaizone management according to the brightness outside. Remember that was modified to work together in C6, C10 and C12.

yes I have it, the different last digits, 0, 4, 6 & 8 are for different manufacturer variants, eg audi, VW Seat, Skoda, the columbus will become 4024 FW and you wont lose anything, it will stay as skoda colours, startup logo etc

So is it safe to apply this firmware? Will any functionality be lost or will there be a chance that it will be bricked? Any issues with the 1Z0035729D bluetooth unit with syncing to the mobile phone?

Units generally these days don't brick.

It was caused by unscrupulous people soldering the EEPROM to reset the security code. Generally if your seals are intact on the unit and you don't have a security like 1234, 1111, 0000 etc then it will upgrade fine.

If it is not compatible with your unit it will just come up with an error and spit the disc out and you will remain on the current firmware.

I'm running this on my 3T0 A unit and it works fine.

With specific regard to the bluetooth question - this from My GTI:

Quote

Warning! Users with the Skoda UHV bluetooth 1Z0 035 729 B (1Z0035729B) may want to delay upgrading the firmware, there is an issue with the RNS 510 no longer displaying the phone book and/or the call details but signal strength etc are visible for some phones. My HTC Diamond for example worked fine before the update but only partially afterwards however my Iphone 3G worked fine before and after. This is not a problem with the 1Z0 035 729 D (1Z0035729D) Skoda UHV bluetooth kit. The MFD functions as per normal with phone book and last calls listed correctly. Android 2.1 phones work fine with the update
