I'm starting to get a bit confused on a few things on this forum and wondering is there anyone with me on this.
I seem to get a slight impression people with a facelift vrs kind of look down on pre face lift vrs owners or am I wrong , also it's hard get a proper opinion on both as lots now have a facelift so will be biast!
Is there anyone that has a facelift but preferred there pre fl?
And finally do people really think the pre facelift is getting a bit dated looking now?
Personally I like both for differant reasons!

Am i starting to itch for a facelift after nearly 5 months owning my 07 Vrs mmm maybe :)

I bought a FL for 2 reasons.  I could get a brand new one cheaper than a CR LE demo they had and pretty much any second hand CR's and also i much prefer the looks of the FL, not only on the outside but mainly the much improved dashboard.

I don't look down on pre - FL owners, why would people?  It is the same car at the end of the day, its just my personal preference to prefer the FL.

IMHO the pre fl is looking dated now.....much like when you see an old A3 next to a FL....

Ditto much of the above.  There isn't really much difference - its essentially the same car underneath, chassis wise anyway..

I certainly don't look down on pre-FL cars, and especially not their owners!    Not sure why you'd think that was the case?

Ah I just get the impression or maybe I'm way off,
Was the dash that much differant sure my mothers 11 reg octy is much the same only steering wheel and heater controls!
Has anyone a link to more info on the LE as in year or months made and what engines u could get? Was the LE expensive new?

I had a car that was a mix of both:)

Older exterior bar the mirrors and a facelift exterior. I'd be shunned by all sides!

The heater controls on the climate versions are different. The fl look a bit classier, but they can be put into a pre fl with a new surround and one wire swapped over.

I think the front on the fl is more aggressive looking although its lost some of the styling lines on the front bumper that flow into the rest of the car that the pre fl had.

Rear lamps, I think I prefer the pre fl,

Interior on fl is better,

So overall I think the fl is better but not by so much I'd be desparate to change my pre fl for.

I sold my pre-fl for a fl model. I just think the front end looks slightly dated now on the previous model. Nothing against pre-fl owners though as I was one a few months back.

The headlights on the front of the face lift version make it look crap to me.

Would much prefer a pre fl.

POPULAR

I personally don't give a flying **** as to what people think about me & my car. I'm thick skinned enough not to care and also have good enough sense of humour to be able to laugh at myself and join in with Banter. I enjoy MY Car as it was MY choice and MY money that bought it. I had a Pre-FL 07 vRS and traded it in for a new MY11 FL last year. Only because my last car was a Hatch, i wanted an Estate and with a Baby on the way i wanted my wife to have peace of mind that any problems with the car would be covered under the warranty as i spend long periods away from home with work.

As long as you are happy with your choice i wouldn't worry what other people think :)

I just can't get to liking the hyundai/kia/any-other-Asian-standard front end the fl has. The pre-fl always looked meaner to me, but I don't like bubble shaped cars as there's no soul in them to me, they all get to look the same: I grew up on angled sportscars with only a few minimal swoops & curves, ala mk1 golf.

If I could have the fl gadgetry with a pre-fl body, i'd be sorted. :0)

You can just get a very late pre FL like i did and have the TSI engine and new dash but with the pre FL front end. I really wasnt sure what to do when i was replacing the damaged front end on mine. Could have gone for the FL, but just think that the pre has a more aggressive look to it. Still see a FL vRS and wonder if i made the right decision, but its painted now and no going back :) and do love the car.

I think preFL looks better that why I was looking for one and got one myself by the end of a day. It looks more proportional to the rest of a car more cleaner if I can say so. No bubbles of headlights etc. but again it's just me and mg IMHO

I was away for the weekend at the rally so popped into the Skoda dealer down south as it was only a few mile off course and I knew they stocked new Vrs ,s in most colour bar red which is no loss, I wanted to see a white face lift in person and it was nice but the blue stood out more as a Vrs I think,
We get good spec on a Vrs here but the bad thing we Do get is 17" wheels and they look even smaller on the facelift as the facelift seems to sit quiet high,
Why does the facelift sit way higher than the pre facelift ?
My 07 blue outside the dealer looked better in this instance lol
Also I have to say the platin grey looked nice.

I prefer the m2  than the plastic surgeoned one(Facelift) , though that has nicer center console, but horrid steering wheel, the FL will date more as when the Octavia 3 is out if it follows the lead of the Mission L as it looks more like a M2 with a more aggressive angular style again .I did not change mine for a Facelift because it is far too expensive for an eight year old car now.The Facelift is lower than a standard M2

Having owned both I prefer the FL both on looks - I always thought the headlights on the pre FL didn't look agressive enough, but also because the build quality seems a bit better. The suspension is improved - better ride quality. The dash is better and ........well its a later car and therefore worth more secondhand.

Would I look down on a pre FL owner - not a chance - I loved mine and the only people I look down on a morons who can't drive and gimps with stereos worth more than the car they are in :-)

Really? I didn't know this, do you know what changed suspension wise pre-FL to FL?
