Thanks, interesting read, I can see this probably becoming an issue as the look becomes more popular.

Joe41, as I am getting older, I am just curious to know about your wheel and tyre choice. When a tyre is too narrow for the rim is there a risk of it coming off?

Also where does this look originate from?

i may be wrong but they look like the correct 205/45/16 standard size tyres??

Sorry I mean on the estate, therefore it is a question for mattvrestate. I have seen a few old Polo's near where I live with the same look.

They are 195/45 16 tyres on 16x8 wheels..

They have a mild "stretch" compared to the tyres on my 17" wheels..

The purpose being to be able to fit wider wheels whith the tyre tread still being under the arch and not rubbing..

The point of wider wheels is to improve how the car sits or the "stance" although im not a big of the word lol..

With the amount of stretch on the 16s in the photo there is no chance of the tyre slipping off when cornering etc. Iv seen more stretch on golf r32s.. bmw m3s and jap crap drift cars that regularily thrash them round tracks etc..

What you do loose is abit of traction and they dont absorb the bumps aswell :)

I have not fitted them properly but they are not sitting right up to the sill just below the doors, covering the sill but inside the side the skirts theres a grove at each end that might need to be cut out to make it come higher up the sill.but cutting the sills up does not appeal to me if they just don't fit.

I wouldnt cut the sills lol i was just pointing out the skirts u have are deeper than mine so will sit lower..

The width should be perfect.. cut away whatever stops them fitting flush with the side of the sill and bond them on m8.. the screw holes at either end should line up with yours so the ends can be screwed on..

Lol stretched tyres have been popular since the late 1990s.. n there is no "issues" in day to day driving ;)

I have only seen them a few weeks ago on a real **** looking Polo and now tonight on the Fabia, I told you I was old lol.

i suppose its same as everything else a little stretch will most probably be fine through the life of the tyre but as with everything else some people take it to the extreme and thats when it causes problems

Its ok im used to old people on briskoda.. lol :D

Dont get me wrong some people take stretch too far which can be dangerous.. and obviously looks pants..but a little stretch looks alot better and doesnt affect day to day driving.. so im happy to run tyres like this (also 195/45 tyres are cheaper than 205/45 by quite abit :D)

i don't know if its because the guy i got them from he was putting them on an 08 plate vw polo and with the fabia being a 54 plate the body could have some difference

Nah m8 polo/ fabia /ibiza from 2002-2008 are pretty much the same.. iv even measured new polo (6r) sills and they are the same length as my (2002) fabia sills.

Best off getting a bodyshop to sort it..

If not i know a lad with a 9n polo who will have them off u ;)

Theres one at each end and a piece of plastic in the middle is this the part you think it might be that was cut from your side skirts

Edited by Joe41

The end pieces should line up with the screw holes on the fabia.. chop the other bits off :)

Right this is my opinion these side skirts don't fit the fabia, unless the skirts sit about an inch and a half down from the top of the sill which is pretty low down but even that the top part of the skirt that bonds to the sill to get that togo flush the skirt has to be rotated at the bottom outwards so the skirt is at a weird angle which can't be right.Nothing lines up they might be the same length bit the fit is all wrong.just to say i have fitted body kits before.

The holes dont line up mate

Do the edges line up? As is can u push the skirt over each end? If so u can make more holes..

nothing fits right its not following the shape of the sill properly its different,do you offer your side onto your car to see if they would fit?i will seek body shop advice but to me they do not fit.

As i keep saying m8.. mine are polo gti sideskirts NOT bluemotion sideskirts..

And the GTI skirts fit perfect

Said that in the 1st thread u opened ;)

Just looked at a picture of a bluemotion polo with these side skirts and the wing sits on top of the skirt with the skirt underneath with the fabia having a slight flare in the wing the gap is bad they just don't fit.So if anyone wants to buy them pm me thanks
