Mine varies, I used to get 60mpg on the trip computer regularly which I think equated to mid 50s. I live 500 metres from the motorway and drove 10 miles at 70mph then 1-2 miles at 30-60mph every day. I did a LOT of motorway miles last year though. I drove through the gears quickly without taking it to high rpm then cruised at the speed limit always.

Lately the GF is driving the car a lot in the town so 50 on the trip computer is more normal nowadays :(

Though not necessarily running at a steady 56 I managed roughly 57mpg from my 00 tdi 110 last week. It was almost solely motorway driving and I tend to stick at 70mph.

I was doing roughly 56 on a 25 mile journey and averaged 65, Bit slower and i managed 72.2 !!! I do wonder what it was really doing !

at around 50 - 60 mph average, on normal road.. sitting behind trucks... in my 04 90 brake tdi

my average commute to work is 25miles each way, trip 1 says around 62-70 mpg, depending on overtaking or not.

Actual calculated is more like 58 - 60 mpg.

90bhp.

Genuine brim to brim 57-59 mpg on diesel. Don't have a computer. 47 mile a road commute.

52-54 on biodiesel / veg oil.

Ignore computer.

This is on a 261k mile car

I do 30 Mile each way to and from work with a 110TDI Octavia... Trip comp on the way in is usually showing Low 70's.... Smidge under 60 on cruise and couple of down hill sections... On the way back Trip comp usualy says lows 60's 62/63ish same speed but a couple of uphill sections. The Odd night on the return journey I'll Drive it like Ive stole it

I Brim it when it needs it and it usually takes 48 or so Litres... I always enter the miles litres etc in an app on my phone Fuellog IRC?..which works it all out... I'm getting Mid 50's week in week out... Worst was just under 50mpg but that was during the last bad snow we had and I was stuck overnight in North Wales so had it running on and off and running and making no progress. Best I've had was 60.82mpg Which was 602Miles to 45Litres.... - tank brimmed as always,, rear 1/4s black with overfill...

Do you brim it "properly", pressing the button just inside the filler neck after the pump initially cuts out, you get an extra 7 litres in.

because thats a really good idea :nerd:

It's a do-over from petrol cars when you needed an expansion zone for the fuel vapors. Diesel doesn't need this to the same extent. Still good practice to make sure the car is driven a bit after you top up like that!

some people remove the valve entirely.

I always make sure I don't do it on a hot day and leave it in the sun.........

Brim to Brim

413.4 miles

£20 BP £40 biodiesel

MPG displayed 41.9MPG

I found this really poor however this was my first full tank after service and timing belt changed.

15miles left on range (prob 5miles in tank) i added £30 bio diesel with no mixing and it has given me 287.1 miles from 0 mile range left. MPG displayed 47.2MPG

So has my car just tuned itself up to the ECU as its giving amazing MPG now.

i used to get about 80mpg real time, and on a run down to Heathrow and back, 250 miles, managed 73.5 average. this was on the old setup of stuck vnt, vw front pipe, and 87k engine.

now i have a replacement engine, which they said had done 71k yeah right, new ebay front pipe and a working turbo, and im getting about 10mpg less. is it worth taking the old injectors out of the old engine and trying them?
