How close is too close for the rear parking sensors

Featured Replies

The manual says the following distances are when the rear parking sensors start bleeping:

"The clearance warning begins at a distance of about 150 cm from the obstacle

(area A ? Fig. 61). The interval between the warning signals becomes shorter as

the clearance is reduced.

A continuous tone sounds from a distance of approx. 30 cm (area B ) - danger"

I have parked a lot closer around 20 cm from the side of the car and not had a peep. My sensors (3) seem to bleep more for a kerb directly at the back than the at 45 deg to the sensors. Maybe that is why they now have 4 sensors.

Is everyone else finding the same

mine start beeping at nearer 1200mm and go solid tone at about 300mm, curbs to tend to give a false positive

That's about the same as my yeti, so I guess that its normal across all Skoda models?

Picks up kerbs. Also spots very thin tree branches.

The sensors must have a wide area of sensitivity, which can be a good thing, right?

I don't think they changed anything. If a Citigo has 4 sensors, it will be an after market version. The factory version (with graphic display on the PID) cannot be retrofitted (even by the dealer).

My Ocky has good side detection possibly because of the 4 sensor setup. However the Citigo gets within 30 cm before beeping on something coming up the side.

If there was ever a car that did NOT need parking sensors, it's the Citigo.

Just how bad at parking do you need to be to specify them?

Have you met my wife?! Anyway, if they're good enough for Stevie Wonder, then they're good enough for me...........

My wife is used to the Ocky giving her plenty of notice for short walls and objects/bollards. And going to the Citigo sometimes it beeps a little too close for comfort?
