The next Skoda Superb is an SUV?

Featured Replies

From Autocar:

'Skoda is also working on a more sporting, Range Rover Evoque-inspired version of its upcoming seven-seat SUV. Development of the new SUV - which is based on the biggest version of the VW Group’s MQB platform - is racing ahead, but the sporty version is said to have “already come off the drawing board”. The big SUV will replace the Superb as the firm’s flagship model and is likely to bear the same name.'

I can see the Octavia is getting close to the size of the Superb. But we all love the Superb and I am not sure whether a seven-seat SUV is a proper replacement, although I think it makes sense financially. VW may well rebadge the car and sell it stateside.

Na, there will still be a Superb saloon and estate, the one you have heard about will probably be called the Skoda Goliath or maybe the Skoda Mammoth  :strong: :smirk:

Octavia is nowhere near the size inside that the current Superb is.

After the Yeti you just know it's gonna be extreme, Skoda Abominable Snowman

It says it will "replace the Superb as the firm’s flagship model" not  replace the Superb. So I guess the Superbs will still be made just this will be the new top of the range Skoda

After reading the full article it says it will be using the Superb name so maybe it will be a straight replacment

After Skoda Yeti comes Skoda Bigfoot.

Given Skoda's understated modesty, perhaps it will be called the Skoda More Than Adequate. Great news if they do produce a genuine 7-seater, something sadly lacking from the current range and I'm sure they lose a lot of family drivers to other brands because of this.

Purely speculative at this stage. Let's wait and see?

I have no interest in 7-seater cars. (any more)

Isn't it more likely that it would be a derivative of the Superb, so you'd have an extra one in the line-up: twin door, combi, scout, suv...?

So the Fabia is getting bigger so it's more golf sized?

A superb with another 2 inches ground clearance. Tell me more!

i cant believe this :o  why they are killing such a good sedan

are they MAD  :envy:

I'd say firstly they want as many vehicles as possible built on their new production lines.  MQB etc.  So the Superb will need redesigned for this anyway.

Currently, due to Octavia growth, it's too close in dimensions and function to their mid-size car, worldwide large cars are also disappearing.  All the car makers are going to mid-size cars and using 4wd's to cover demand for larger vehicles.
