Matterhorn alternative? Audi/VW

Plenty of folk seem to run the Michelin Latitude Tour HP 215/65/16.   The 65 side profile being the largest you can go with. 

Just something I'm keeping in mind when if I don't end up going down the route of 17's.   Energy saving tyre for the small/large 4x4 SUV etc etc market.

With relation to 'zero offset' I was referring to, I seem to recall it was a Golf feature which made a front tyre blowout less of a handful with non-power steering cars.

I guess stability control can accommodate all/most wheel spec mods.

Here's another query.   Would it be possible to keep 16" alloys and fit a greater profile to fill the arches and give a better overall look?

 

Say... a 215/65?  The Yeti does seem pretty "Jacked up!"

 

 

Been reading through the Wheel and tyre guide section and some other searches.  Haven't seen any pictures with a Yeti with the above tyres fitted.  Often come in A/T tread for the 4x4..

 

No one in the UK has found any A/T tyres in the 17" size although there are plenty in 16", as I'm sure you've found.

There has been one member near the Forest of Dean who I think fitted standard size A/T's but I've not heard of anyone else. I know that those of us that do rally safety are using standard road tyres with no problems, although some are using winter tyres in 16".

Others have found that the biggest problem seems to be that Insurance companies will only allow tyre sizes specified by Skoda.

I suggest that before you continue with any wheel or tyre modification you check with your insurance company what they will or will not allow. Some are VERY restrictive.

Will check, however a move to a 215/60R16 should be ok with a normal road tread pattern.  Nothing dramatic. If anything it will bring it to around the standard Yeti height of the 3cm already lowered/smaller alloy.

Nice, has anyone ordered from eshop before?  Any import charges etc?  That's a very good price.  If they're so good on matterhorns I might look at other alloys from them in the ET45 size etc.

Won't ship to the UK. There isn't an option to change both billing and delivery address from Czech Republic. 

Shame, as it was only £405.24 for the 4.

In your mind it seems to be logical BUT who knows a logical insurance company? My experience is that they will try anything to get out of paying a claim so if you do get an agreement from them make sure it is in printed format.

I've always found a specialist broker is far more useful, accommodating and better value for money - if you're moving away from a car's standard specification.

 

So a discussion with Chris Knott, Adrian Flux or Brentacre could be worthwhile, having dealt with all of them in the past on modified policies.

Adrian Flux are now who I'm with. They're fine with all future modifications I've discussed with them.  It would be interesting to find out what they'd think of the tyre change to the 65's...

A lad on the Skoda Yeti facebook page has uploaded a few photo's of his Yeti with 17" Momo Strike 2's... look pretty nice, especially with the colour contrast and 225/50/17.

Are Momo good quality alloys?  There are some belters out there that fit the Yeti's specifications.
