40,000 miles & still in love

26 months and 40,000 miles later and my Yeti has exceeded my expectations, having experienced the quality of my two year old Fabia as well as reading many magazine articles praising Yeti - I bought one.

The dealer experience is exemplary, they don't just offer coffee, they MAKE IT for you! And it's not just coffee, the work on the car is also first rate-a wash & valet too.

The only warranty work has been the replacement of one rear door plastic foil (like clingfilm).

The car is comfortable, quiet, uses no oil, over 40 mpg regularly, often surprises friends & relatives with its versatility and many 'surprise & delight' features.

Still on original Pirelli tyres (just) and brakes.

Considering whether to go for 'all season' tyres or Continental Conti 5 - any opinions welcome....

The only car I've ever cleaned with a clay bar and then polished, well worth it!

To conclude, one very satisfied Yeti owner who would recommend one to anyone considering a car of that size.

P.S. no prizes, but does anyone recognise the bridge behind the Yeti.

Wow!

40,000 miles on one set of Pirelli tyres, you obviously don't spend much time around Swindon .

I recently changed my original Conti 2's for Goodyear EfficientGrip performance tyres and am getting approx 3 MPG improvement - measured brim full to brim full. Quieter too. However, if I didn't have a set of Winter wheels/tyres I would have gone for an all season tyre. AutoExpress recently tested a bunch and concluded the Nokian was best but they were all much better than summer tyres in winter conditions, check it on their website.

76000 miles in 5 years, original set of Dunlops lasted 37000 (to 3mm), currently on Goodyear 4seasons (still on 5mm after 39000).  :)

Just had driver's door wiring loom replaced.  :(

Oh, is it Moulton Packhorse Bridge, by any chance? ;)

I read that - was a shame they didn't include Michelin's much-hyped CrossClimate in the lineup. Would have good to see if they're as good as claimed.

Allseasons have moved on quite a bit, but the area they still lack in is dry braking compared to summer tyres. Don't know if the Michelins are any better in this respect.

Is your Fuelly signature really correct? Only 6 fuel-ups since 2-11??

Fred

Ha, no. I fill up weekly. I have a massive pile of receipts that I keep meaning to put into Fuelly, but can never be bothered to do!

Impressive tyre wear but probably explained in part by the 40+mpg. I haven't quite cracked that barrier yet for day-to-day driving.

I've also got a 1.2 Elegance and recently changed my tyres for Michelin Cross Climates. I haven't any experience of winter tyres or all-season tyres (or "tyres" as we called them in the 1970's) but for what it's worth with about 800 miles on them so far they seem just as good as the tyres supplied by Skoda (ContiPremiumContact 2) in the dry and when we had a few days of heavy rain to my mind they seemed better in the wet - driving through deep puddles with nearside wheels in the water and off-side on dry tarmac my impression was of less pull towards the kerb. They also seem to be quieter than the Contact 2s. On the first brim-to-brim fill on the new tyres I got 39.2 mpg consistent with my long term average but this may improve as over that month or so virtually all my journeys were short with occasional longer runs this might improve. So a couple of months in and I'm very happy with them. Provided they do reasonable mileage I'll certainly be considering them next time around.
