  1. OK, slightly premature as I've not exactly started it as yet, however this is here as a placeholder to make sure I get it done and done quickly. i don't want this project to hang around too long! The plan for the Two-Piece Not Quite So Variable Boot Floor is to have two pieces of wood that form the raised boot floor, with a join betwixt the two roughly half way back. Each piece of which can be lifted out if required, but the expectation is that the rear most section would be put in last/lifted out first. So far I've bought... the board for the new boot floor from B&Q and had it cut to size - 15mm OSB 2 board, 610mm deep for the forward section and 540mm for the rearward and both 1 metre wide. £21.83 all in. https://www.diy.com/departments/osb-2-board-th-15mm-w-607mm-l-1220mm/81234_BQ.prd the carpet, carpet glue and lifting handle from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00ZA5VIRE £9.98 + £4.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01DIRB7OO £6.69 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01B4WUXO0 £6.99 That's £50.48 so far I reckon one of these at £3.91, https://www.diy.com/departments/c16-cls-timber-t-38mm-w-89mm-l-2400mm/1798297_BQ.prd cut into sections and screwed to the underside of the OSB will give me the right height above the existing deck. If my measurements are right, the board should sit just above the lip on the tailpiece, and be slightly lower than the top of the lip. I'm intending to position the support battens on the front piece to rest against the front of the boot floor such that when both floor pieces are in place, the floor should not move about. Ignoring the cost of the screws and staples that I've got in the garage already, I'm expecting my TPNQSVBF to set me back just under £55 and a couple of hours of shaping, drilling, screwing, glueing and cursing. Ideally less time that it took to set up Skoda Connect and get that working. Well that's the theory anyway. I'll report back on progress (or go very quiet and hide in a corner if it all goes wrong). Whatever, nothing will happen before Wednesday when I get my B&Q discount ;-)
