  1. Can't get the China version retro version l&k badges any more, so I went on a mission to recreate the logo myself and get it produced. Happy enough with how it came back, it's the skoda badge from 1905. Also started polishing the tailpipes
  2. The BMW 5er definitely is a more performance car on B roads whereas the superb, by intention and design is more wallowy. Probably why I can't see myself taking the superb beyond stage 1 (although never say never) because at that point I'm really trying to make it something it isn't. (not to say I don't love the madness of the 500ps one out there)
  3. Tints and dechrome done a few days ago. I'm wanting to change alloys to 19s, either phoenix or the sportline style (vega?)
  4. That's really interesting, gives it a very BMW look from the side in my opinion
  5. Everything said above, plus the extra unsprung weight will be bad for performance, so you want the lightest set you can, https://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/oz-racing/ultraleggera-hlt/silver/20-inch With pirelli p zeros about £3.5k. Or as you said you wanted the audi look, seek out the mags (made of magnesium so super light) that were an rs4 or rs6 option if I remember.
  6. I want to know whether ACC is good at using engine braking to slow down, or whether it's hitting the brakes, because much as I like the ACC system which is on my car, I can't bear the thought of it constantly driving up to traffic ahead and hitting the brakes when as a manual driver I almost never need the brakes on a motorway, I consider it poor driving and I dislike the notion of looking like a bad driver who hadn't the basic foresight to see that there was traffic ahead and slow in time without the need for brakes. Does anyone know how good ACC is at avoiding unnecessary braking? I've not had the opportunity to drive behind my own car to watch it in action.
  7. Was 20" ever offered in any market? I thought 8Jx19 was as far as skoda ever offered, so going to a 9J wheel width at your own risk I guess. Happy for anyone to correct me...
  8. The set I found from the breakers yard had the chrome strips. For anyone wondering, they come off fairly easy with a hairdryer to heat the adhesive and some isopropyl alcohol to clean up. I plan to retrofit the taillights and avoid the need for a strip along the bumper and all the hassle of changing handles and number plate lights as well, besides I prefer the look without the strip. So I think it'll work just fine retrofitting the lights alone with the chrome strips removed from them. Here's a closeup video of one with the chrome removed. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uTfZ6d9dqm9pbaHs8
  9. I'll have to take apart some of the bootlid and perhaps more of the car for the required wiring to retrofit facelift taillights, so while I'm at it I ordered this cheap cam from Alibaba. Will let you know how it goes.. £55.67 | FOR Skoda Octavia MK3 superb 3V B8 Rear View Trunk handle Camera with Highline Wiring harness 3V0 827 566 N https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqCnfqL
  10. Centre bore is too big, it's possible to use spigot rings to reduce it, but I prefer to get the exact right fit to begin personally.
  11. I have the Alu footrest and pedals on order for my DSG from the local skoda dealer, should come in within the next week or 2, will let you know what fitting is like
  12. To answer some of my own questions here, I've made some diagrams of what a facelift tail light adapter set of conversion harnesses would look like to aid myself in . These diagrams are specific to Right hand drive notchbacks/liftback/hatchbacks (i.e. not estate/kombi/avant) Thought I'd post them in case they're helpful to someone. As you can see, it's pretty much a straight pin-for-pin mapping with 3x quirks - a) now that the indicator is on both the inner and outer light clusters, some joining of these needs to happen b) now that reverse has moved to the inner cluster, a wire for this needs dragging up over the bootlid hinge and back down c) 2019 has a new wire on each side going all the way back from the indicator to the fusebox via connection 1 in the main harness, some sort of Canbus wire maybe? I'll update the thread once I've built the harness and plugged the new lights in. I'm thinking I should build 2x harnesses while I'm at it if I'm doing one, so that I have an extra set for the next person who's thinking of attempting...
  13. i was just trying to help you hunt down more details of the taiwanese one you originally were showing. this is another pic of it
  14. the ACT version has a claimed 56.5mpg and 116g/km of CO2 – 4.2mpg more and 9g/km less than the 123bhp 1.4. also if you get the 123bhp one, you are limited to the most basic "S" trim level
  15. Hi, the 123bhp version doesn't have ACT, 148bhp version does
  16. I tried to order to the UK, but they're not currently shipping anything that isn't a pretty small item to the UK, seems there's some kinds of issues with customs, presumably post-brexit related
  17. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001386496913.html you will probably also need a facelift bit of trim that goes above the steering cowl to fit it properly. Also it can work with MIB2 head unit, but if you have mib2.5 , the mib2.5 units can send the whole satnav map to the virtual cockpit which is kinda cool. It still works without that function on mib2 headunits
  18. Does anyone have access to ETKA to figure out what the part numbers for the connectors are? I need pre-facelift female connectors and post-facelift male connectors in order to make a proper conversion harness, but I can't find a name for these connectors or any part numbers for them. I have the wiring diagrams if anyone needs, let me know and I can tell you the colours - I won't post them here because it's probably a breach of erwin and/or briskoda rules. I picked up a set of facelift rear lights (outer and inner lights, 4 parts total) for £370 + £20 delivery (I found someone on ebay breaking a facelift, although it had chrome trim - I wanted black sportline, so I'll have to wrap the chrome strip on the rear lights). The seller wouldn't sell me the boot handle, number plate lights or tailgate strip/frame that holds the handle and number plate lights, because he wanted to sell the tailgate as a complete unit, which I understand. I'm hoping I can get away without using the chrome strip on the boot, as I really don't want it anyway - if the tail lights look ok with the chrome wrapped black and no strip on the boot, I'm happy.
  19. @Camarao69 can you tell us what the part number is for the trim piece needed above the steering cowl for MY2016 models is? Thanks (I already know what the colour codes at the end of the part numbers are)
  20. Any chance of a link so I can use the same seller? Does your mileage stay the same or get reset to 0?
  21. Superchips remapped today, so far so good, Dale showed up in a van marked 'remap kings', gave him the key, left him to it, about an hour later it's done. I'm perfectly happy with it, to me feels like it's gone from a fast car to a real sleeper weapon, and the engine now isn't the limiting factor in terms of performance. Im still too new to this car to test its limits on icy b roads at the moment, but suffice to say I'm happy with my remap - and at £388 (£100 off during Feb) quite the deal, I remember they were the official tuning partner of Volkswagen Racing UK and provided custom remapping on all VW Racing UK's cars for Volkswagen Racing Cup
