  1. Yes broker4cars are even cheaper. Its not that amazing to pay a more realistic price for your car.
  2. Internet discount price for Fabia Monte Carlo estate 1.2tsi with no extras seems to be about £13711 at ukcardiscount . Walking in off the street I wouldn't pay more than that plus extras.
  3. I like the Fabia mk3 but having driven the 1.2 tsi I didnt find it performed anywhere near as well as some people claim. I took a Polo gti out this week and it was a great drive but a boring car. Skoda have got the design of the Mk3 Fabia right but need to put the Polo gti engine in it. An estate version would be perfect.
  4. I was recently having the same problem in my 1.9 tdi Roomster. I took it in to the dealer and I suggested it might be the accelerator/sensor that was the problem. I took it in for diagnosis and yes it did need a new accelerator and sensor. They charged me £33 to diagnose the fault and £195 for the repair. It's runs fine now.
  5. I was wondering how it would work if your own insurer expects you to use one of their own approved repairers.
  6. So, why are Candy White and Corrida Red now regarded as "Special Colours" and cost extra?
  7. Recently been having intermittent high revs on my Roomster 1.9tdi - a quick dab on the accelerator and the revs go back to normal. Dealer says it needs new pedal and sensor so getting it fixed next week but not cheap - £196. They also charged me £33 to diagnose the fault .
  8. Wish Skoda would stop messing around and stick the 1.8 Polo GTi engine in the Fabia and give us a Vrs hatch and estate.
  9. Broker4cars.co.uk Leon 2.0 TDI FR 184 £17811 five door.
  10. You can buy a Seat Leon 2.0 TDI FR 184 for under £18,000 on the internet . How much is an equivalent A3?
  11. Grey,Red and Black are no cost options on VW and I think the cost of their metallic is cheaper than Skoda. Whats that all about?
  12. The new Polo GTI with the 1.8tsi engine has a 0-62 time of 6.7secs. If Skoda put that in the new Fabia Hatch and Estate it would be perfect.
  13. Has anyone had experience of the Ibiza 1.4TSI FR DSG which is on the internet at £12783 as a comparison with the Fabia VRS?
  14. Rule 163 clearly says give way to oncoming vehicles before passing parked vehicles. It doesnt say pull into gaps and give way to oncoming vehicles but in my experience most people pull in out of courtesy, myself included. I regard anyone who doesnt give way as ignorant and deserving of of a gesture - police included. If they want our respect then they need to show respect themselves.
  15. Broker4cars price is £14518 at the moment.
  16. If blue badge holders can park on double yellows then its obvious that its not a problem to park there for a short time so long as there is no obstruction caused. IMO.
  17. If I want to let someone park on my drive what on earth has it got to do with the council, Eric Pickles is talking sense on that one. Also what is bonkers about being able to park on double yellow lines for 15 minutes without being ticketed? Worst thing they ever did was give the power to the local council to issue parking fines. At least with traffic wardens they could be challenged on the legality of a ticket - the councils just make their own rules up as they go along in order to fleece motorists. It wouldnt be so bad if fines were used to repair roads instead of letting people damage their cars and then have to go through the process of claiming for compensation.
  18. Had a follow up phone call after my service and was told that the technician recommended cam belt change. I pointed out that they had replaced the cam belt 12 months ago at 4 years old. "Oh yes looking at your records I see that now" says the service person. I pointed out that they had quoted £230 to replace rear discs and pads but that Skoda National Pricing participating dealers would do it for £189 and he said it wouldn't be a problem to match that price. Must remember to always question a price/quote.
  19. Thanks for the comments. I didnt pay for the service and MOT because it was the second year of a service plan (obviously I had paid upfront last year) so maybe they thought they could squeeze a bit of money out of me without me feeling it ! By the way George what does "gubbed" mean? Hang on just looked in the Urban dictionary and It means knackered (north of the border term) also you mention worn discs - do they also wear down as well as the pads?
  20. Just looked at the link given by george and the cost of new pads and discs is £189 so that must be what they intended doing, however its still £40 more expensive and at 35% worn is too soon IMO.
  21. They are disc brakes and the car has done 34000 miles. I've used this dealer since buying the car from them new. It's the first time I have got a printout entitled "Express Visual Check" so made me feel like they could be looking for work and I thought £230 sounded a bit expensive.
  22. Just had the Roomster serviced and MOT'd. The dealer phoned whilst the car was in the garage to say that as part of a visual check they noted that the rear brake pads were 35% worn and should they go ahead and replace them at a cost of £230. I told them not to replace them unless it was an MOT failure. Do they need replacing if they are 35% worn? or was the dealer looking for work?
  23. Anybody know the warranty on alloy wheels? Just noticed some flaking on the front offside wheel.
  24. Wish they'd just get on with the Fabia Mk3. They should have done it instead of bringing out the Skoda Vapid. Also why not offer a Vrs version at launch instead of 3 years down the line - would it be so difficult?
  25. But to be fair it's still an oil burner.
