  1. Here's a relevant thread on a German Škoda forum: http://www.skodacommunity.de/posts/1083406/ The author of the thread is complaining that on his Fabia 2 the left hand tyre has worn 1mm more than the other three after only 3000Km. He's also bemoaning the fact that the car is pulling to the left (into the centre of the road) when traveling on a straight road. It seems to make no difference if the steering wheel is situated on the left or right, the affected cars always pull to the left so road camber has nothing to with the problem.
  2. I think that's exactly what I was alluding to in my post. The concept that there should be a difference between right and left hand drive cars due to road camber is a bit far fetched IMHO. I'm pretty sure that the cars pulling to the left in the UK would do exactly the same if they were to be driven on European roads. However, I do wonder if these affected cars will pull up in a straight line when engaged in an emergency stop?
  3. It shouldn't make any difference what hand drive the car is, It's sounds more like they're not correctly set up in the factory, just like some cars have had their headlights set too low on dip beam. Poor QC? Mechanical tolerances too large? A combination of both? Anyway, I must be one of the lucky ones as my 2013 registered Monte drives perfectly straight with it's Conti Sports, also with hands off the wheel, and even in Germany driving on the right side of the road.
  4. Saw this on the DVLA site and thought it would look good on most current VAG diesels. VW 02 NOX
  5. If you use 'port' and 'starboard' instead of 'left' and 'right' it doesn't matter where you sit!
  6. I'm using Continental Sport Contact 5 XL as they're rated #1 in their class for wet weather grip (essential in the UK!). http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2015-EVO-Magazine-Performance-Tyre-Test.htm Don't expect high mileage out of them if you're an 'enthusiastic' driver as the rubber compound is very soft. Mine only last about 9k on the front, but by comparison the rears are still the original Contact 2's.
  7. 2013 Silver 1.6 105 TDI, owned from new Mileage 27500 Extras: Rear parking sensors Rear electric Windows Full sized spare wheel LED DRLs' Still on the original Conti Sport Contact 2 tyres at the rear, but on my third set up front. Now running Conti Sport Contact 5 XLs'. They grip like the proverbial in the wet ('A' rated), but then they're very soft and wear quickly. And for the record my right foot is innocent! This is unquestionably the best small car I've had since my BRM Mk II Golf GTi.
  8. I recently had the misfortune to experience a cracked windscreen on my 2013 Monte diesel (stone damage) so I phoned up Auto Windscreens who came next day to fit a new one. With this being only my second windscreen replacement in 42 years of driving I naturally assumed that a genuine screen would be fitted.....wrong! Initially I didn't notice it was just a pattern part until I tried using the radio and found that most of the stations I listened to were no longer working 100%. I do live in a hilly environment so the lack of signal was probably more noticeable than someone who drives in cities, but apart from that the aerial embedded in the glass looked like a permanent marker line (the original is barely visible). Not satisfied, I phoned Škoda insurance to see what could be done. They informed me that I should contact Auto Windscreens and ask for a genuine part to be fitted under their warranty as my policy states that only genuine parts are to be fitted to the car in the case of an accident and this includes the glass.* Having phoned Auto Windscreens to inform them of my requirements and what my insurance company had said they did try and give me the run around, but eventually agreed to fit a genuine screen. Suffice to say my radio channels now work 100% again and the aerial is all but invisible, as it should be, and of course there's the Škoda logo on the glass which the pattern part didn't have. Am I being picky? Maybe some would say so, but I'm a stickler for detail and don't see why I should put up for second best when I'm actually paying for genuine parts. Also, as Auto Windscreens know that I was insured by Škoda they should have fitted a genuine part from the beginning. * Škoda insurance said that in future I should always ask for a genuine screen (or other glass) from the onset of a claim otherwise cheap pattern parts will invariably be fitted by default.
  9. The list that starts this thread suggests that Mk II Fabia diesels have a DMF, but a 2013 Monte Carlo 1.6 105ps diesel has a standard single plate, single flywheel clutch. My curiosity was piqued when I remember reading in the official brochure that the car had a single plate hydraulic clutch so I phoned my local dealer to confirm. Sure enough, when my car's details were entered into the data base it shows that it is indeed fitted with a bog standard single flywheel clutch. At least if the clutch does ever need replacing it's not going to cost me a vital organ!
  10. I love the wheels and faux hubcaps on that Beetle, terrific!
  11. Right now? A Boeing 777 engine roaring it's tats off at MTO!
  12. DaKKS, Utter cretinous t0sser springs to mind! LOL!
  13. Holly smoke, you've got a vivid imagination, that plate means absolutely nothing to me.
  14. Booted my Monte at the traffic lights and caught a scruffy looking scrote in a scooby off guard. The look on his face was a picture as he passed me at about 60 in a 40 zone. Lol!
  15. Eewww! I don't even recognise it, but wouldn't be at all surprised if was of Fr3nch origin. It looks bland enough.
  16. Speeding is an excellent example as every driver in the world has been guilty of this action, knowingly or not. It's like picking your nose, those that say they never have are bare faced liars! What I don't understand though is how the law can be different to an individual dependant on whether he drives a car, or a large lorry over/around a painted roundabout. Let's face it, most painted islands are pretty small anyway and in most cases utterly pointless. Why not go back to junctions and let motorists sort themselves out.
  17. But if there is no one about, who will know I'm breaking the law.....only me, and my conscience rests easy with that fact. Anyway, every single poster on this forum has broken the law in one way or another during his/her life so let's not get too righteous.
  18. If there's nothing about I always drive straight over painted islands, why not?
  19. What?! It's people like that who need prosecuting for obstruction! Now I understand your objection.
  20. If you were travelling in a 30 MPH zone I don't understand what the problem was.
  21. Chipped the the rim of Monte's front off-side wheel on my own drive way. D'oh!!! :(
  22. Hence the need for DRLs to be made a legal requirement in the UK. At least the cretins will have some bright lighting visible whether they like it or not. It's a shame that we always seem to need to legislate for the numpties of this world.
  23. As soon as I switch the headlights 'on' on my Monte the DRLs go off, so they are NOT superfluous.
