  1. Sometimes you have to sort problems in order! So topping the Washer Fluid first, may, and I mean, May! allow you to then 'Set' the tyre pressure! Give it a go! it won;t hurt! 😁
  2. I have a Thinkware Dashcam, as does my wife, and I fitted both using the OBDII adapter lead that they sell, works great! We have the Parking Monitoring switched on in both cars, and when the Ignition is switched it fires up to Record, then stops when the car is switched off, if you are in Traffic for a very long time with Stop/Start it can go into Parking mode, but that's no biggie as it starts recording immediately as the engine Starts). I've also set in the software on both cameras to turn off the parking mode if, either, the car is parked for more than 48 hours or the Voltage drops below a certain level. It's possible to get a 'Hard Wiring' kit and 'Piggy-Back' fuse (usually the Rear Wiper) for Switched Power. Some Hard Wiring kits will have a Permanent and Switched Feed to allow for 'Parking Monitoring' and immediate start when the engine is started. The OBDII just made things easy (not having to find a switched fuse and earth point etc..)
  3. Apparently VW specs on a System Flush and change some ancillary bits, is Flush the system, Fill the System (vacuum filling) , Get the Vehicle up to Temp,, Run it for 10 minutes, Let is cool sufficiently, Flush the System, Fill The System, Get the Vehicle up to temp... do this 4 - 5 times (that's what I've been told by 3 separate VW techs!), with a Technician on hand at your vehicle for the entire up to 6 hours (at £80 - £100 per Hour) so Parts: Clean Fluids each flush, New Header Tank and any pipes/clips that are needed, Pressure Testing, Labour: at least 5 hours maybe more!!! I was quoted £1200 for mine!!! So I'm going to an independent to get mine done, as I think I also need a Heater matrix replacement too (I think the Silica bag has gone POP)!!
  4. It's a brand new Cap! albeit from Ebay... After some investigation (had a read on the Golf 6 and 7 forums)... I have a horrible feeling it's the 'Mit Silikat' bag leaked into the Heater Matrix! It's taking Aaaaages for the heater to get hot (thank god for heated seats) Gonna be 'spensive!!
  5. I'm looking to swap out my Coolant Expansion Tank, Probably with the one above! but I think I might need to replace the Overflow and possibly the inlet, pipework (the car stood for a year before I bought it) and I think the pipe may have perishes slightly, as I'm getting Coolant drops, but the Oil is clear (not mayonnaise), The Temps are bang on, there's no smell of Hydrocarbons!.. What there is, is traces of Coolant around the cap and neck of the bottle, a residue on the outside of the bottle and a small puddle of the Coolant on the Engine Brace below the Expansion Tank. The system has been pressure tested at Skoda, but I think it might be somthing associated with the bottle, and 10 year old Rubber that's stood for a year has a tendency to perish. What Pipes (with Part Numbers) are needed for the Expansion Tank?, how hard a job is it to do? (I'm no mechanical n00b but I've not really done this sort of thing since my Mini Cooper back in the 90's) Cheers!
  6. As far as I know, Fuse and Fuse Taps are not directional (like a Diode or LED) so current will flow either way through them! So it doesn't matter which way they're installed (They'd probably be key'd to fit one way if they were) Worst that would happen is the same as fitting an LED a**e about face, It' just won't work till you turn it round! 😊
  7. Some Dashcams (eg - my Thinkware F200pro in my 64 plate Octy) have various Parking modes from Motion Sensing, Time Lapse and Energy Saving (which only senses impacts and instantly starts recording) and will switch off after a number of hours/days that you specify (I've got mine set to 48 hours) and a voltage level (again set by the user) Not had any Battery problems, even after leaving the car parked for a week+ My Wifes Thinkware F750 (in her 19 plate Fabby) only has the Motion Sensing and Time Lapse options, (had it on Motion Sensing, but it would trigger 40 - 50 times a night as our driveway faces a busy road) The lowest Time Lapse setting and 48 hour/12.1v shutdown have stopped any problems with the Battery! it's up to you! the unit should work with just the Switched live triggering the 'Continuous Recording' and the 'Parking mode' menu should be Blanked/Greyed out in the Menu! Good Luck! 😊
  8. Most Dashcams recently, come with a Switched and Live (plus ground) connection! the Live for parking recording etc, the Switched for travelling! if you don't connect the Live, the dashcam will work no problems, but the Parking recording will not work! Most Facebook reviews and fitting instructions are from a time when getting a Live connection was a professional fitting thing! so most people either hid a lighter socket in the dash (connected to a switched live) or direct Switched and didn't worry about Parking recording! Just find a Permanent Live Fuse (have a look in the manual) and pop another piggyback in it! I always go with 5A fuses, just in case the Stop/Start system pops the fuse!
  9. There are a few Dashcams now available that use the OBDII socket to Hard Wire into the car! (Thinkware, Nextbase) I have a Thinkware F200Pro with the OBD wire, and I bought the same for my Wifes F750, Both now have full functionality (Parking recording etc) and it's the same price as the Hard Wire cable kit. otherwise I believe the Rear Wiper is on its own fuse, check the Car Manual for which one that is!
  10. But upgrading to MIB2 (or 2.5) is prohibitively expensive!
  11. Ooooooooo I'd be interested in this too!! #grabs popcorn
  12. I've weirdly got similar... the difference is I'm still getting heat from the vents! There's a significant drop in coolant every 4 - 6 weeks (but only in hot weather, it didn't do it over the Winter) The inside of the Expansion bottle is brown! But... as I said up there, The Heater is still blowing Hot Air when asked to! I had Skoda investigate, they pressure tested etc... found no problems, Had the Water Pump replaced wit the Cam Belt as recommended, and nothing has improved! There was talk of a system flush etc... but they quoted me £1100 ... I think £50 for a couple of bottles of Coolant keep the level where it's supposed to be, and replace the Tank for a clean one (another £20) and I've saved over a grand!
  13. Tyre Pressure Warning???? If the tyres are at the upper limit (or lower) of their pressure, and they get hot (going 75mph will warm them up a bit) the Pressure in the tyre will increase (or decrease, can't quite remember) putting the pressure out of spec!! I remember this happening to my Fabia II Greenline (with a very brief maxi-dot warning) but never with my Octavia! Though, as people have said, it's weird to not have a visual warning also (like a light on the dash, or Maxi-Dot message). Plus it doesn't sound like the normal Skoda/VAG warning Bings and Bongs...
  14. I'm running a Thinkware F200 Pro in my Octavia III SE Estate, My wife has a Thinkware F750 in her Fabia III SE Hatch (previously in my Fabia Greenline II Estate). Both fitted my me in the space of about 2 hours (both dashcams on the same day) I bought the optional OBDII power cable(s) for them both, as this meant I didn't have to find a Switched live fuse to splice into, and I could take advantage of the Parking Recording for both cars, without also finding a second live fuse! Fitting was easy, Find where you want to put the Front camera (don't fit it yet!!) Run the front/Rear USB connection cable from the front (under the headlining) to the A Pillar and along to the B, Then C and carefully tuck (using a cheap Chinese Car Panel tool kit I got from Amazon) and then lose the spare cable in the headlining, Make sure there's enough slack/spare for the Tailgate opening. Run the Power from the Front Camera position to The A Pilar and carefully pop off the Door Rubber (or just stuff the cable behind without removing it!!) Pop off the Drivers End dashboard panel Pull the cable through and locate the OBD socket!, Connect the wires, Plug in the OBD, Start the Car, Turn the Wi-Fi on the camera on Connect to the App on your phone then position the cameras on the windscreen (adjust the Level and Pan of the camera) and rear screen, Then set all the bits you want (Front Collision, Lane Assist, Front Leaving, Parking Recording etc... etc...) Disconnect your phone... Job Done!! It starts up nicely every time, and goes into parking mode when you're stationary for a prolonged time, and funnily stuck in traffic for a time, but switches over to Recording when you move! I've used the footage 4 times from mine and twice from My Wife's, for the Police (which they are quite grateful about!)
  15. Weirdly this time round, when topping up, there's a 'Burping' (as you put it) happening!! Lots and Lots of Bubbling. Where as last year it just topped up and that was that! So maybe it is an air lock! Fingers Crossed!!
  16. On the VW-retrofit website the MIB2.5 is about £750 fitted (the Columbus is £1200) but I'm sure there are fellas on here that can supply and you fit for much much less!
  17. I bought my Octavia SE Estate TDi 150 over a year ago, it had been stood for about 6 months, but the seller said it had no problems before He gave up driving (age and infirmity) It had only done 32k miles on a 2013 (63) plate! I had my local dealership give the car a once over, checking everything, and got the car serviced. it has been doing me very well, but during the hot weather last year it started throwing up a Low Coolant warning, I topped it off and went on (thinking it was something to do with the time it was stood) but it came back about 3 weeks later again 'Low Coolant' so I had the Dealership pressure test the system etc.., No problems according to them, apart from the Header tank being a bit on the dirty side (but the Bag is still intact!!) but the system Pressurised and didn't leak! They changed the Cap as the seal was a bit gunky! This went on for maybe a few more times, till the Temperature outside dropped, probly October Last year!. Things settle nicely no more Low Coolant warnings! I then about 6 weeks ago took the car for it's next service which included Timing Belt and Water Pump this time (42k miles now on the clock). Que 2 weeks later the Low Coolant Light coming on again, I still had some left in the bottle in the boot and Topped it off again! No problems till yesterday when it warned me again! I can't see any puddles on my drive, or at work in the car park, There's no Smoke from the exhaust (black or white), the Oil is nice an nutty coloured (and not high or low) The Header bottle is still dirty, but the bag is intact! I have a couple of questions.. 1, Have I or the Garage missed anything!? Could there be a major problem brewing, or is it a feature!? 2, Would it be worth replacing the Tank? for maybe something like Amazon - Radiator Coolant Expansion Header Tank (or any other recommended if you could!!!)? 3, How easy is it to 'successfully' fit the Header Tank myself?? Any Help would be Fantastic! Thanks Guys!
  18. Open the Developer Options on your Phone (tap the build number of your phone in 'About Phone' until it says "You are a Developer") Scroll down in the Developer Options list to "Bluetooth AVRCP" and et it to AVRCP 1.3 or 1.4, reboot your phone, and try pairing again. The AVRCP mode of the Bolero Infotainment is v1.3 (1.4 is closely compatible) Once it's paired and working (hopefully) reset the AVRCP to 1.5 (default) and see if it still works (if it did in the first place) Had this with my 2021 Motorola Edge Lite and a 2014 Octy with the Bolero, at first I left it on v1.3, then after a couple of months I upped it to v1.4 then v1.5 and it only has the odd wobble, where I need to dissable bluetooth on my phone then re-enable it and it picks up fine!!
  19. How easy are they to fit? Do they plug into the Infotainment unit in the Glove Box? or is it a complete replacement!?
  20. Ah.. Haaaa... I've only had the car a year, and this is the first time I've needed to replace them, didn't realise it was such a faff... Never had a car that needed a 'Special Handshake' to change the Wiper Blades!! 😁 Cheers Dooder!! 😎
  21. As title really... Is there a knack to fitting new Front Wiper Blades, without scratching the edge of the bonnet with the Wiper Arm body? Most cars I've had, you just lift the arm to it's erect position and it stays there... on my 2013 (63 plate) Mk3 SE Estate, I can only really lift the arm a couple of inches, before it hits the Bonnet edge!, I managed to get the old ones off, and fit the new ones, but it was a major Faff!!
  22. Quick Google... "Laurin and Klement If you're in the market for a new Skoda, you will likely have come across a trim level called Laurin and Klement (L&K). This is the range-topping specification on a selection of Skoda models, and aims to make the car feel a bit more upmarket inside and out than their more affordable versions"
  23. So my Infotainment looks like this, It's apparently the Bolero! It only has one SD Card Clot and no 'NAV' function... But all the versions of the upgrade unit I can find for sale, when they show "Requirements" All show a glovebox unit with 2x SD cards and the Screen has a 'Nav' button, I think it's the Columbus (or somthing) So my question is, does anyone reckon it will work with my set up, or am I stuck just streaming music via Bluetooth, and relying on my phone screen for Navigation!?!?
