Who did you order from mate? I'm struggling to get a 100% recommendation for FL estate part numbers. -
Improving light output on H7 bulbs
Bcc212 replied to aldouk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I'm sure it will greatly help someone else. Unfortunately, I have a FL. But thank you anyway. -
So, I had my vRS in for a few little niggles today and when I picked it up, we went through the bits and bobs that had been done and because of my low tread tyre, she was advising me on tyres. I was advised against Bridgestone due to sawtoothing on 'my model' meaning the vRS estate. So I questioned it a bit, turns out they have loads in and Skoda have solely put it down to Bridgestone tyre degradation and loading on the tyre, therefore recommending us to stay well away. She didn't mention which model of tyre however. Seems like it's a direct message from Skoda as she wasn't too knowledgeable about some other stuff, so doubtful it was a personal recommendation. Just a useless piece of information, may be of some help to someone who is suffering the problem.

Improving light output on H7 bulbs

Can someone put exactly what to do on VCDS for this. I've been wondering and watching about this mod for a while now but never done it as I don't know how to do it via VCDS. -

Looking to buy a Mk2 VRS estate, any advice please?
Bcc212 replied to broona's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I love mine. There's something about a 'high powered' estate car. Unfortunately I can't afford the real high powered estates. So the vRS is a brilliant compromise. Oh and the boot is huge! -
Indeed. I have slowed down from much higher speeds, with the car staying solid throughout. Warped discs a possibility?

Bloody hell, didn't realise it was a crime to spend money so early in the month?! Thankfully, you'll be glad to know that I earn enough to buy tyres, however, unfortunately (or fortunately) I decided that after our wedding that I paid for last month, that we should go on holiday... Which I paid for with this months pay, you'll be glad to know. This cost a lot of money, enough in fact that I am looking for a cheaper way to replace a tyre, than buying 2 new continental sport contact 5's for the front for ~£200. Now if I didn't have a wife, a small child, 2 cars, a house and food to provide, I would most definitely take the option of buying some tyres and eating super noodles for the rest of the month. However, as explained, I don't have this luxury and I don't think that a credit card is needed just yet. Thank you to everyone else for your help, it has been well noted and gratefully appreciated. After assessing the situation today and checking the tyre itself, it looks about in as good shape as some of the tyres on eBay. Therefore, for now, I'll monitor the degradation until it is actually illegal. Thus saving my wallet until next month, where with the money that I earn (yep, see I do earn money) I'll be able to replace both fronts with something suitable and new. Which leads me on... Eagle F1's? Or these Falken's I've heard so much about? I think I would prefer some tyres which last and don't make such a racket when rolling.

Seen one for £35 which is a bargain, 3.5mm tread which isn't a great deal but could last the month out of course. Who in the hell do you get to fit these? Surely tyre shops are not interested one bit in fitting a tyre they haven't provided?
-
Seems like the only logical thing to do. £111 a tyre.
-
None. Vrs without a spare.

I know this has been done to death, but I've found myself in a rare predicament. I need a new tyre, it's bordering out of limits, just a solitary drivers side front. It's a continental sport contact 5. I have a sport contact 3 the other side (long story short, was going on holiday and needed a tyre there and then when I found a tyre wall failure, so had to get that). My predicament is that I'm bloody skint. Normally I'd replace the pair and get on with it as I don't like the thought of 2 different tyres on the same axel. However, I've just got back off my honeymoon and don't really have any money until the end of the month. So what the hell do I do as a practical solution? Thank you in advance.

Wow. Stuck in the ages gents. They do it because they can, it's called being human and using imagination and ingenuity.

Agree totally if I'm honest. Many major cities have already banned diesel vehicles.

Nope. But I agree, ridiculously good stereo as standard. -
I've never had a derogatory comment. And I'm from snobsville - essex.

Octavia Coupe! ....sorry if this is old news!

Like it. Want one. -
Mmmm I don't think the octavia vrs is ready for 4x4 yet. Not until it has some serious power that it actually needs it. It would also bump up the price.

It's radar, which is expensive, but fairly simple. Sends a pulse on a certain freq, that gets reflected off the vehicle in front, the recieved pulse is measured for time taken, and processed to measure whether the vehicle is going slower, faster or maintaining their speed. Obviously all works at the speed of light ~ Very old technology being adapted for new vehicles. I would imagine it being common place in the next 5 years.

Something I would never want to have again in a car. Sticky in summer, cold in winter.

Not strictly true.

My new pet hate is 'for off road use - rally spec bulbs' these Cockends annoy me more than range rovers with their dipped beam in my face.
