  1. Yes my Elegance has them. Sadly I discovered this withing two days of getting the car when I got a puncture. TBH I would not worry, nobody bothers stealing standard alloys now a days.
  2. Halogen lamps use incandescent filaments to produce light. Halogen cycle keeps glass bulb clear. HID uses an electric arc as does Xenon short arc. Difference is in the gas. HID uses a mix of metallic salts in their gaseous states to produce lots of light. The Xenon short arc uses .. er .. Xenon gas! It is much less efficient but has the advantage of quickly reaching its maximum output at turn-on. HID takes a while to raech full output as the metallic salt that make them efficient are solid at room temperature and must be heated to vapourise them. As electric arcs can have negative resistances, some sort of control gear (ballast) is needed for the last two types of lamps. Light source size is smallest in the Xenon Short arc, is larger for the other two types where the sizes are similar. Hope its quite clear?
  3. Keep them, as soon as you wash them, the birds will just apply more. Once there is one or two they leave it alone.
  4. I kind of agree with this, talking on a mobile is not the most dangerous thing you can do while driving, however that does not excuse it, it just means you should not take your eyes of the road to get atoy for your kid, change your CD or to reapply your lip stick either. Grow up, you are inded a selfish individual. Either that or you are deliberately trying to start an argument.
  5. Go for the Nokia. While Windows may fall far behind iOS and Android in terms of popularity it is still a healthier system than BlackBerry. IMHO in terms of quality Windows is the best mobile OS, follows by iOS. However in terms of apps it falls far behind, but you have stated that you are not too worried about apps. The Nokia is a great phone, and is on my shopping list. I am due a chnag ein late October and unless the new iPhone has a decent sized screen it will be a Nokia Windows phone for me. I can't stand Android (sorry fan bots).
  6. That is not great, the equivalent system in my Renault Scenic, locks the doors once you move (with the key card) beyond a certain distance from the car. The unlocking works with or without gloves, so it sound like the Skoda system is inferior. I still wish skoda did a proper Scenic equivalent, would love a car where the trim does not fall off.
  7. I asked because when the Fabia came out I went and looked to buy one (I was driving a pre-facelift) 1.3 GLi Felicia at the time. I was so underwhelmed by the Fabia, which was very dark inside and despite being bigger give the impression of being smaller, that I bought a pre-reg Felicia estate instead. The Fabia I loked at had a 1.4MPI engine which was very similar to the 1.3MPI engine in my Felicia.
  8. Mender it is typical of the mentality that seems to require ever greater numbers of rules and regs for everything. Just like the stupid day light running lights. All I can think is that I was attacked on here for disagreeing with theses because some members see them as extra bling on their cars.
  9. I agree that the Citigo is better than other city cars, and indeed that is why we bought one, but £11005 is a lot for a small car. At the moment you can get a brand new Nissan Juke SUV for £10 less.
  10. There was a known weakness in sub frame bushes. I had my cars bushes upgraded with Bosch parts when I bought it. Perhaps your car had failed bushes?
  11. Just curious as you were a Felicia owner and then had a Fabia mk 1. Did you feel the Fabian was much of an improvement over the Felicia?
  12. It is not so much he price but how they effect the delivery time that is a big put off. Usually cheaper to buy the top spec car which comes with the extras as standard than it is to spec up a more basic model. To me the vRS is not about gadgets. If that is what you want get an Elegance.
  13. My mk 3's did not handle like barges, and I found them very comfortable. My second one was not basic. Parking sensors, trip computer, heated screen, auto head lights, auto dim mirror etc. With 130 bhp it drove and handled better than the mk 1 0ctavia vRS with 180. The Octy was faster on a straight, but the handling of the Mondeo was so much better that you could drive faster on the twisty roads. But I agree the oval clock was awful.
  14. Heated windscreens are great. I had two Mondeo's with them, and it makes such a difference when clearing the screen. Can't say the fine mesh ever bothered me. Can't say that heated seats excite me, although my wife's new Citigo has them.. Keyless entry and ignition is great. I have it on my Scenic. Cruise control is ok, but I find I rarely get a stretch of road that you can cruise on long enough to make it really worth while.
  15. My scenic has keyless entry and ignition. It works really well. Go for it.
  16. The more options you go for the longer you will have to wait for the car, so do you really want them? Race blue, in a couple of years the red will be pink.
  17. I owned two Mk3 Mondeo's and despite my like of Skoda, I have to say that they were the best cars I have ever owned. They handled better than the Octavia, they were finished on the inside better than the Octavia and they had bags more room (comparing Mk3 Mondeo to Mk 1 Octavia). They also were more reliable. Never needed anything done other than routine service. I wish I could say the same of the two Octavia's I owned, but I can't. Also despite a higher new price I was able to get both Mondeo's as nearly news for less than a similar aged Octavia. While I have never liked the styling of the Focus, I have drived hired Focus cars many times and again they were superb to drive. Less experience of the Fiesta, but it certainly looks much better than a Fabia. Skoda have a better city car and the Superb is better than than the current Mondeo (except in external looks), but with thise exceptions the Ford line up beats Skoda or VW. Sorry but that is my experience.
  18. Most of the extras you get on cars are not really needed and are just something extra to fail. My father's very basic Dacia Sandero shows that very nicely. However heated wing mirrors are quite useful in the winter. My dealer said that city safe was a con and a waste of money as just how often are you going to be about to crash travelling at just the right speed. I saw his point.
  19. Why is 0% finance a mistake??? Do you want to pay more for the car than you have to???? Seems a rather stupid suggestion to me. Sorry but I am a blunt person.
  20. In my vRS owning day you could only get a vRS in 3 colours, black, red and yellow. While I like the metallic blue in the current vRS, I think silver is just plain boring. I fell in love with the blue vRS in the dealers when we were buying the wife's Citigo, but I am just not sure about spending over £24K on a Skoda.
  21. The problem with the USA, UK and France intervening in Syria is that none of thes countries is ever willing to wage total war. They bomb first and fthen when this does not work ( and it never has), they end up sending troops. Now the British and American armies are more than capable of winning any of these conflicts, but not when they are constrained by rules of engagement that leaves them trying to act more like a police force than an army of occupation. Until the politicians have the courage to authorise the military to kill the enemy until he has no more stomach o fight, then all these actions will become the disasters we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  22. Yes I have to say that I think a phone this size is daft. I am quite happy with my 3.5 inch iPhone 4S. Don't really see any need for a larger screen on a phone.
  23. Don't know but the iPhone 5 workes perfectly with my 2010 Scenic and with my wife's brand new Citigo.
