  1. Excellent, thanks very much. Just wanted to gain some feedback incase I broke her new toy using the wrong software lol :-)
  2. Hi all, apologies as I know this will of been covered in other post but I can't seem to find it at the moment. My wife finally got her PID unit for her Citigo sport yesterday, 3 weeks after getting the car and she wants me to update it. I remember people saying that it was best to use Garmin software over the Navigon one and that there were problems updating with Macs? She has the Navigon unit and I will be updating it on a iMac. Does anyone have any experience with the above and know the easiest way around it? Thanks all in advance Mike
  3. Mine is also confirmed for next week, after coming forward from week 43. Meteor Grey VRS TDI Manual Estate Winter Pack Black Pack Sunset Glass Amundsen KESSY Cruise Control SUK is going to ring me when it's been built. By the sounds of it, it'll have some Briskoda cars for company :-) This is the exact reason the sunset glass was a must have for me. Yes I like it but my young kids really didn't approve when we got our current car without tinted windows :-)
  4. When I made my first order (VRS hatch) at start of August I went for race blue. This is a beautiful colour and suits the car no end but being new to Skoda I didn't realise how popular it truely was and then I also found out it was no longer a VRS only colour. So when I decided to change to a VRS estate due to SUK telling me I probably wouldn't get my hatch till January, I decided I wanted a more unique colour or as unique as you can get on a car with only a handful of colours. As most of you will know from my previous posts and my pic I went for meteor grey. When I first made my decision I was unsure if I'd made the right choice and pics online didn't really help as it would look completely different from one to the other, it seems to be a colour that digital cameras struggle to decide what it should exactly look like. After I spotted a Fabia in meteor grey I knew I made the right choice for ME. Also and I don't know if this is correct or not but my dealer says they have had a memo from SUK that meteor grey will only be available until a certain week, so should help make my car remain unique. I'm loving the meteor grey and can't wait to get mine. On the plus side for us few Meteor Grey lovers, it's nice to know all the people that dislike it will be carrying a little bit of meteor grey with them on their VRS badges lol ;-) As has been said on here before, colour is a VERY personal choice and is purely down to what YOU want / like. Don't make a decision on what I or anyone else likes, go for a colour that you like but also what matches your personality and which ever you go for it'll still be a cracking car :-)
  5. I was in Border Cars, Lillyhall, Workington yesterday and they have received a VRS hatch as a demo (in the showroom at the min) last week.
  6. Hi frasreid, they've said for a while that hatchbacks would not start getting built till November, with dealer cars being built first. So it may be the backlog will take your build into December. This is why I changed my order from a hatch to an estate in mid August. Hope your lucky pal and you get it sooner.
  7. I always do the same thing and turn up in joggers and t shirt. I never get bothered by them unless I want to be and I get to find out what they're really like, will they still treat me well even if I look like I can't afford a bag of crisps. I once went to the Rolex shop in Carlisle in the same attire to get my watch serviced and they ignored me even when I was speaking to them trying to get some attention, "sorry we are busy". As soon as I put the nice green leather case on the counter they were all over me, sorry for the wait sir, what can we help you with sir, sir, sir, sir, thought I'd just been knighted. I've never been back there since.
  8. In an ideal world I would like two pipes for two bits of trim but does it really matter? I don't think it does, as I just plan on looking where I'm going most of the time, rather than where I've been and if I'm stuck sitting in traffic I don't think I'll really care what the guy behind me thinks. Also I think that if Skoda had made a different rear bumper for the TDI or had to set the engine up completely different to the rest of the VAG range to accommodate an extra exhaust pipe, I don't think I'd be getting the TDI for peanuts more than the petrol. So on that note I'm happy enough with Skoda's decision on this one. Just my humble opinion.
  9. I've come across this from friends and colleagues but I just plan on getting the car, let them look and then listen for the back tracking. A guy I work with said "oh don't get one of them, their s***, you may as well get a Lada" when I retorted that he only drives a Ford and an 8 year old one at that (Mondeo ST) he said "well it might have a Ford badge but it's really a Jaguar" this from a man that can't accept Skoda is a VAG brand. I think my VRS is well equipped (with my extras as well) compared to just about any other model from any other brand. At just under £27k less discount taking it to just over £24k, plus 0%, plus free servicing, I think it's a bargain, compared to any similar size and spec car, including BMW's, Merc's, Jags and of course it's VAG cousins. I'm sure when I looked at Peugeot 508's about 2 years ago for the same spec (not even as much kit) I've of had to buy the GT at some where around £32k Once people see it I truly believe that if they pick fault with anything it'll be something that doesn't matter, i.e. the false exhaust (mines a TDI). I discussed getting this car with a friend of mine and it was actually funny how defensive he got over his BMW :-)
  10. I've not got mine yet but I was under the impression they should do this, is this another thing the UK is missing out on? I thought they were also supposed to change the 'beam' depending on driving mode and speed as well. Do they not do this?
  11. Is it done in software or hardware. Is this not one of the things that needs the lane assist camera?
  12. I'm 29 (30 in just over 2 weeks), with two young boys and just waiting for my Octavia VRS. Although it is a VRS that's more a representation of my personality than my age as think I'd still of gone for the VRS if I was 60 - 70. It's a proper dad's car, you know the type when you were young in the play ground when you would argue "my dad's car is faster than your dad's car" lol.
  13. When I ordered my vRS I also ordered a Citigo sport for the wife. She's had it for 3 weeks now and I have to say its a fantastic little car and as it's running in its becoming pretty nippy too. Compared to most city cars it's still quite quick (for a 1.0, 3 pot) even at higher speeds and will sit comfortably at 70-80 mph feeling solid on the road. To top it all off I think its a really good looking car :-) I have to say though, from my 3 or 4 times the wife has actually let me drive it, as greenstripe said, it could really do with reach adjust for us taller people as it gets uncomfortable after a while but on the plus the Octavia will be doing all the long runs anyway or at least it will when it arrives. The Citigo is perfect for what we want it for and with 300 odd miles on it's doing high 40's - mid 50's pottering about and into the 60's (on the trip) on medium runs and it's getting better all the time. Just can't wait for my Octavia to land now and if impresses half as much as the Citigo I'll be one happy motorist.
  14. No problem pal. I spoke to SUK today and they confirmed it is currently week 41 but not yet locked down. They said they expect it to be locked in at 41 by the end of this week and said they would call me back to confirm. I'll let you know when they give me a definite answer :-)
  15. I thought the Citigo Sport came with a spare as we just ordered a standard Citigo Sport for the wife and hers came with a spare. Guess she must of been lucky :-) Glad you got sorted pal
  16. Must be due to the options as you say pal. Mine was ordered at almost the same time after initially ordering a hatch first week of August. Been in the dealers today about my wife still waiting for her PID for her Citigo and they've told me my car is confirmed for week 41 now. I've contacted SUK about the wife's PID so will confirm my build date when they call me back.
  17. VRS Estate, TDI, Manual, Meteor Grey, Antrahcite Gemini's, Black Pack, Sunset Glass, Winter Pack, Cruise Control, Amundsen & KESSY. Also stuck with the black / grey contrasts with grey stitching. Ordered second week in August and last I heard (3 weeks ago) provisional build week of 42. Going to contact SUK again week 40 and hopefully they are going to tell me it's been built (one can only hope :-D )
  18. I thought with these modern deadlocks only the signal from the fob will unlock them?
  19. I used to have one of these in my Transit when I worked for BT and it was fantastic as it had a timer you could set. They used to work on diesel but only heated the inside nothing to do with the engine, or at least not on our transits.
  20. I can remember having one of those remote control watches years ago and I got it to learn the IR from the fob of my dads Peugeot 405. Used to make my dad think something was wrong with the car because he couldn't understand why it was always open when he was sure he had locked it lol.
  21. All I know is I won't be taking the risk adding anything to my fuel with my brand new car. When I had my Ford C Max 1.8 petrol, I got an average 3-6 mpg more per tank by using BP / ESSO fuel compared to Tesco and apart from my 400BHP Impreza which was mapped to BP Ultimate (was Shell but the only one in West Cumbria closed) with extra RON additives, I've never notice much difference between for example BP and BP Ultimate fuel. My local Seat garage has recommended it's customers to not use supermarket fuel after they had a dozen or so cars come in with faults and the only connection they could find was they all refuelled at the local Tesco garage. If I remember right don't the supermarkets use fuels which are part bio fuel? As I can remember quite a few years ago they had a bad batch and a self employed white van man sued them as his sprinter packed in and he manage to take Tesco to court and won for damage to his van and loss of earnings etc. In that case Tesco didn't pay at first so he got a high court writ and they turned up at a Tesco Extra and confiscated a load of booze, TVs ect till they payed up. On the plus side the cheapest fuel where I live is ESSO so win win.
  22. I've not driven any MkIII octavia other than the vRS and I found it extremely comfortable to drive. I found the ride good and loved the comfort of the seats. I also have two young boys, 2 and 4 and nothing during the drive made me think it would be anything other than a nice place for them to be. At no point during the test drive did I think it was noisy or did I feel it was too firm like other sporty type cars I've had in the past or been in recently. I went for a long drive down the West Coast of Cumbria the following day with my friend in his BMW 335 coupe and that WAS very harsh and unforgiving so much so that when I got out I thought I had been repeatedly kidney punched over and over. To me it just reminded me how good the vRS ride was. But then again the elegance maybe and probably is even more comfortable but just doesn't do it for me.
  23. Unless it is because the parts have a longer lead time to order than the cars current build week as I popped in to see my dealer the other day to ask out of curiosity what the price difference would be if I added DSG and was told it would be a waste of time looking as they would not be able to make that "big" a change for my build week of 42. Said I'd only be able to make minor interior change at this point.
  24. My cars coming with Amundsen and standard maxi dot.
