  1. Oh yes, peer pressure is such a powerful thing. I too have had to place an order for the most revered detailing product on these hallowed pages. Hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow!
  2. Right this could be interesting! mk3 Ford Escort 1.1 Popular Plus mk2 Vauxhall Astra 1300L Rover 213 S Citroen AX 1.0 Debut Fiat Punto 1.1 S Citroen Saxo 1.4 Peugeot 406 Coupe (2.0) Citroen AX GT 1.4 Renault Clio 1.4 Dynamic Mercedes Benz C180 Sports Coupe BMW X3 SE 2.0d Audi A3 1.6 SE Technic Audi A1 1.6d Sport mk2 Skoda Octavia hatch vRS tsi (FL) mk3 Skoda Octavia combi vRS tdi
  3. You can get the grill surround and mirror covers from superskoda (grill surround 65 euros plus P&P). But to do the surround properly you have to remove the front bumper, which is a right royal pain or you can (gently) use a screwdriver and prise the old chrome surround out, but this will break/snap the chrome surround and it all becomes a bit 'Heath Robinson'. I chose the latter and was 'lucky' enough not to damage the rest of the car so it can be done, its just not a job for the faint hearted!
  4. Don't know if this will help, but I added the black grill after I bought it, so here's photos 'before and after' (apologies for the quality in the first pic)
  5. Oh my lord! I'm laughing and crying in equal measure.
  6. Nice work, good luck keeping it that clean. At least with the good foundation work done it should be easier to keep on top of.
  7. Interesting...when Andyvee and I had a vcds session sorting out the cornering fog lights on my vRS over the Christmas season, Andyvee noticed that there was no coding for the sound generator. I was going to ask the dealer when it's next in for a service about it, but you have unraveled the mystery of the missing SG. I'm personally not fussed about the noise maker so quite happy for it to be missing. As for a retro fit, it would be a factory part back order which could take forever, plus software and possible wiring loom. Not impossible I wouldn't have thought, but more of a faff than what it's worth.
  8. Saddens me to here of such mindless vandalism (is there any other kind). I know superskoda sell a replacement vRS grill, so the grill will probably separate from the bumper. The trouble will be to find a 'like for like' grill as the dealer will likely only have one part number for the complete bumper and grill assembly. It might just be an insurance job after all!
  9. Only just gave it a single go after it was enabled and it worked then, not tried it since though.
  10. Thanks for your time today Andyvee, very interesting afternoon. Very impressed with your knowledge of German (minus the dimming light episode). Cornering fogs enabled, tilting passenger mirror activated when selecting reverse, auto close on the windows when it rains, and the last drops wipe function activated for the front and rear wipers. Very happy, thanks again. Charley
  11. 125/70R /18 is the tyre size and it's on a steel rim, definitely not a full size spare! The jack is a fit for purpose item, but if you're going to use it for changing wheels around (swapping fronts to backs/putting winters on etc) I'd upgrade to a more robust item.
  12. That colour looks soooo good on the vRS well done on a nice detail, you've just got to try and keep it that way!
  13. I like it, it's a brave man who does mods like this to a new car. It definitely complements your car.
  14. Looks good, nice photographs, enjoy your new car.
  15. Looking very nice indeed, and should stand out from the crowd, nice to see the vRS hatchs are filtering through.
  16. I've copied this link from elsewhere on this forum (apologies for stealing it) but I was amazed at the price and thought it would cement the above comments from all. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19e58349e9
  17. A few of people on here (including me) rave about Gtechniq products. I am new to their stuff and have only tried the C2v3 and G1 product, and was really please with the results, a very reasonable price, easy to use (as a novice) and it claims to last upto 7 months. It depends on how much you want to spend, getting it professionally detailed will probably only cost you another £100 above the Autoglym lifeshine offered by the dealer and will be ten times better. But if you want to do it yourself I would look for some Gtechniq products.
  18. Car just back from dealers, and they have diagnosed a faulty window mechanism, and have ordered a replacement. The headunit (right on cue) started playing up again in front of the mechanic, but it was not throwing up any fault codes, so he said to see how we go, and if it doesn't get any better by the time it goes back in for its window mech' he'll seek further advice from Skoda UK, and get one of their electrical head honcho's out to have a look - whatever that means! On the bright side the steering wheel controls are now fixed - loose connection.
  19. Thanks/tacker, I have now read page 47 and carried out the suggested solutions and I either have the window that will close but the one touch operation doesn't work, or it reverts back to the one touch op, but the anti-jam kicks in again. Now I'm not convinced I've got the procedure correct, but have been trying for the past fifteen minutes and still no joy, cheers for the help/tips, I'll leave it now for the dealer to sort out.
  20. I didn't know I could, please tell me how?
  21. Just a couple of minor niggles, one I posted last week regarding the Bolero having a mind of its own, now the drivers side window will not go up without the anti-jam kicking in and leaving the window open by 4inch, therefore have to play with it manually for it to close, and this morning the steering wheel buttons refused to work! The car is booked in to the dealers on Friday to 'run diagnostics' hopefully nothing too major. Had an FL vRS before this one and it didn't have a single problem in our custody, so I'm a little disappointed with this one so far because of the niggles - but I'm not loosing faith just yet, I have confidence in the dealer and I'm sure he'll get it fixed :wonder:
