  1. I came from a 1.6 TDI blue motion Passat. Very nice car, quiet, comfortable ride and the Passat 1,6 comes with 120ps and a six speed gearbox. Just wanted a hatch, bit smaller and a 2.0l TDI. Voilà .... Octavia but it has it draw backs.
  2. That's interesting didn't realize that. Cut backs back fired on them in this case
  3. Logiclee wrote (For the 1.6 diesel you loose independent rear suspension on the Mk3. The torsion beam and the suspension setup means the Mk3 has a crashy ride and much more suspension and road noise gets into the cabin.) Reading the quote above does Redcupraboy's present MK2 have independent rear suspension.
  4. The cruise control if you have is on the top of the indicator stalk, 3 position switch and a toggle switch which sets the speed higher or lower on the end of the stalk
  5. Panlong .........not hiding fact it's possibly made in China but guess ther'e all made there anyway. Long as it works. Wait for the report Oldboyscout,
  6. There's a test they do for detecting exhaust gases in the coolant isn't there.
  7. My 18 plate 2l TDI has done 12k. I'm interested in keeping an eye on the dpf soot levels and regens. Looking at Karl03V5 links above the Carista elm 327 dongle paired with App VAG dpf pro or free would be the way to go. I've not used anything like this before and would appreciate any advice.
  8. Hope your post will be directed to MK1 section this is MK3
  9. Week ago I changed my android phone for a new one running Pie 9. Android auto has been transformed. So much quicker linking up and have a full screen of apps. What OS is your Android phone running.
  10. Yes guys, manual controls, we've been using them along time.
  11. Could it be the sensor being tricked by the fog particles reflecting back. If it persists I'll get it booked in
  12. Since having the car, about 7 months agol haven't done much driving in the dark. Had figured the way the auto dip works some time ago. Travelling the last two mornings there was dense fog in patches. It totally screwed up the sensing, switching between high and low beam very erratically. Then even when it cleared for longer periods l had to dip manually sometimes for approaching vehicles. In the end my driving was so distracted by was it going to dip before I blinded traffic coming the other way I switched to manual control. System bit hit and miss to me.
  13. We had 2 of these disco heaps. Went to a Toyota land cruiser.....top vehicle.
  14. Is disco sport short for Land Rover Discovery?
  15. The 2L TDI can be driven in a way to match the mpg of the 1.6 but my thrill for a bit power through the gears takes overall mixed driving to mid 50's. It's more of a relaxed drive, pulling really well low down in the gears (manual box). I daresay if I tried out a Vrs I'd want one. I am tempted!
  16. I hope the guy measuring the clutch packs got a Vernier reading on the plus side!
  17. Yes, this is correct in my experience, the clutches are not covered when inquiring about buying a VAG approved car. The car Gammyleg is looking at has substantial mileage. How much does a clutch replacement cost on a DQ200 box. Budget this in before deciding to buy.
  18. These links make some very interesting reading/information. Great input Rootootemoot.
  19. How many miles has it done. Can the present owner give you a service history breakdown through the Skoda dealers maybe. Personally I wouldn't touch it if it's a high miler and can't find any history on it. DQ200 your taking a chance. Is a manual box out the question!
  20. There are lots of posts on the forum concerning problems with these particular DSG units. The costs of repairs are particularly high. Before you buy do your homework, checks and indeed ask for info on the site.
