  1. Google; Skoda sunset privacy glass ..... Loads of reading.
  2. Simply sensible gm73. This is what I'll be doing if I keep the car after the warranty runs out.
  3. They should. I'm sure the brakes are the same on the SE model which has the 16 inch wheels fitted as standard
  4. Not worth it IMO. You can get a good sized crate in the back of an Octavia, had one in mine, room enough for 2 spaniels. What size dog do you have but if you want to change go a head.
  5. I should have stated in my above post that I was referring to condensation not white smoke which is an entirely different thing and would be of concern. So check out which one it is. My bet its condensation.
  6. New engines do this for a while. You'll probably notice it more now with the cooler mornings and evenings this time of year. As long as coolant isn't dropping and car runs okay nothing to worry about. Even modern diesels do it.
  7. This surprises me. The Octavia comes in for a lot of criticism over cabin noise including myself having a dig. Road surfaces are the biggest problem. Fresh laid tarmac and there is no problem. Your comments about the Tdi noise I agree with and I have passengers say .... Is this petrol or diesel. The common rail diesels have significantly got quieter over the years compared to my first diesel a mk1 diesel golf now that knocked...... Loved that car.
  8. I would be taking the problem up with the company who replaced the water pump. These engines have a myriad of pipe work and circuits and if not correctly filled can cause problems with air locks. Gone are the days when you squeezed the top and bottom rad hoses and turned the heater to hot.
  9. Blooming predictive text. Yes it's a long time since I was a 32 waist!
  10. I hadn't needed to jump start a car for years but when our Boxer horse box refused to start a mechanic friend advised me be very careful how you go. It could spike the ecu on not only the donor but the car with the flat battery and if you did go ahead make sure the jump leads are as attached as shown in the hand book and said something about putting the head lights on on the donor car. The AA eventually came out and started with a anti spike jump pack.
  11. Wow that doesn't sound nice. People have had problems with the vacuum pump think it's joined to the oil pump.
  12. Is your car petrol or diesel ?. If it's diesel could be the water pump failing. Up to a certain year there was a problem. What year is yours and how miles has it done.
  13. Hope your slave cylinder isn't on the way out. I think it's replacement involves taking the gearbox out.
  14. Octavia is a saloon shaped hatchback. I have done many motorway miles in wet conditions and as long as your moving there's know way I would want the option of a constant rear wipe. The car styling as it is very little rain ever gets on the rear screen, only in stop start conditions and then a push forward of stick isn't such a big deal.
  15. I've never experienced any breaking. Obviously don't want to go tearing into the boot of another car, so how can it be tested. How close to the other vehicle do you have to be before it works as you say this happened once to you.
  16. Think this is what I've got, have seen the warning come up a couple of times when i've over taken a car in front with limited road and have been in close proximity of the car I'm overtaking. Don't see any point in it, in fact it's a distraction.
  17. I have same diesel power unit as you. My present car is a FL SE-L 18plate and I love the moderate power of the 150ps. I've had VAG diesels for years and not one has let me down, just change the oil regular. I drive Briskly and find the car pulls really well, always looked at the VRS but fear the ride would be a bit harsh living in rural Herefordshire but that extra grunt would be fun. I give the car an occasional blast as I fear driving it at 1200 and 1500 rpm as it's quite comfortable dodling along our B roads would cause DPF problems. Enjoy your oil burner and be aware of the 1.4 tsi petrol guys trying to convert you.... Haha.
  18. What a nice thing to come home to. Would have thought your neighbour or the builder would have had the decency to cover it with a sheet or something. I would hose it down, give it a good soaking and see what comes off. Get some buckets of hot soapy water (detergent) and throw over it and leave to soak and pressure wash it off. Be careful using any brushes or cleaning cloths while there is still mortar on there for fear of scratching the surface.
  19. Don't be surprised that you have to top the coolant up from time to time over the coming weeks. The cooling system is notorious for air locks and can give the impression you have a leak until it settles down.
  20. I go to the supermarket pumps every time which ever is the cheapest, not had any problems.
  21. Well, so there is. I'll have a look at other cars I drive
