It's such a stupidly bad design, and makes sense why the FL version has the ballast fixed to the plane 90° to the original so water doesn't trickle into it. I'm not posting in this thread again because since posting...my other one has failed! But I did re-fit the covers last week to that one so i'm assuming water has struggled to get out and just gone into the ballast... great! Not sure how i'm going to sort this now without taking THAT side out as it's a bit of a PITA to get to.

Had this recently on mine, turns out the headlights have water in them and where the ballast is located (directly under the headlight) means that it just drips directly into the ballast. I recently changed my ballast a few weeks ago, and it failed within 2 days. I took the headlight back out and low and behold the ballast was full of water again! I allowed the headlight to fully dry and blasted it out with compressed air and a fan to get it all out. Dried the ballast too and unbelievably it came back to life after a few days and touch wood its been spot on since. Do you have all the headlight cover caps on the back of the units? I think there are 3 per headlight on the pre-facelift.

Does anyone know if you can fit those to a car without the electric struts as standard? So a retrofit.

Not a bad idea at all that. My issue is (and solely my problem) is that I need the car daily and it's winter so would need it now. I may have a gander in summer time perhaps.

No I haven't mate. I daren't risk it with it being such a big task. If it was a simple swap it wouldn't be so bad.

Think I have a thermostat issue, I changed my DSG stat last year so don't think its that. I'm not even getting to operating temperature in November on A, B and motorway roads after a 30 minute / 17 mile drive. How long roughly does yours get to bang in the middle doing average driving at this time of year? in terms of time and/or mileage Thanks

Think i'd still be wanting a validation check of that the coolant temperature sensor is working though. There's not much else to change and not having 100% confidence in the sensor wouldn't sit right with me. Thermostats are pretty basic pieces of equipment so if that's working, nothing else should really be effecting operating temp.

Where did you order the badges from? or are going to?

I ended up flattening my curved badges somehow, probably with a hammer. They're still on a few years later, although the paint has flaked away.. probably from the hammer

A bit of a weird one. My heated mirrors only come on when the dial is selected on the drivers door, which is annoying as I expected it to come on when I press the heated rear screen. I usually have it on the L position as it helps with reversing dipping the mirrors so having to move it to heated each time is a pain, on other cars the heated mirrors come on when the rear screen heater is on. Am I missing a setting or is this how it is ? On a 2012 superb estate Thanks

Hi, My Mk2 has the common fault where the heated seats aren't working, i've changed the module with no luck and put it down to the wiring in the seats. A replacement set is looking at £180+ for one seat... which i'm not paying. Has anyone had any luck with any others from Aliexpress or anywhere else? Well aware i'm talking to myself but it may help people in the future... there's nothing worse when people complain about an issue but never update the final result on a forum. More wires have failed in the left hand side tailgate wiring which is what is presumably causing my issue!

As per the above comment, check the windscreen seal too. Mine has failed and lets water in at the top

Now i'm wondering if it's the boot wiring again (in a different place perhaps) as the rear wiper isn't working now, and i'm fairly certain the heated screen isn't functioning so perhaps a bad earth within the loom in the tailgate.

Hi, i'm having an issue on my 2012 estate where the boot mechanism isn't activating properly when pressing the button. It's: Making a very weak sound compared to normal when pressing the button Takes a few presses for it to actually release the boot and feels like it's catching something Locking the car again after 60 seconds (the standard auto lock) if I unlock the car and just release the boot so it's clearly not registering the boot is opening. How does this mechanism work? Has anyone had a similar issue before please? I sprayed some GT-85 in the mechanism and that helped slightly but it's still doing the above. I have repaired the tailgate wiring a while ago and can't see it being that because the mechanism is clearly registering the button press and trying, it's just weak. Many thanks, Daniel

Hi all, Bit of a weird issue and it looks like it's probably an earth? Basically when i'm indicating right the right arrow on the cluster doesn't appear or flash but the red coolant icon pops up at the time when the indicator light should. The indicators are all working absolutely spot on and there's no issues there. To me it sounds like there's probably an earth thats got corrosion on it etc, does anyone know of any common issues here? I've had a search but nothing obvious at all Many thanks in advance

Hi, Has anyone heard of an issue where the glow plug light doesn't come on when you switch ignition on? Mine is doing that and in this cold weather it obviously won't start. I don't understand why they aren't coming on though? If I put the ignition on about 5 time the glow plug light does eventually switch on and it starts Coolant temp is working fine when it's driving. Hi all, Really not happy with auto wipers so wanting to use the little wiper lever on the stalk as per the intermittent wipers. I've gone into one of the settings on OBD11 and disabled "rain/autolight sensor" expecting the stalk to go back to intermittent wipers as i've read online but it's still using the rain sensor I believe as they are completely random now on the stalk. Has anyone coded them back to a lesser spec model before? If so am I missing a step? Thank you

I'm not sure if he's active so much anymore mate. He was last online last year The drive is still giving me an error The disc is spinning up but it's like it's not connected to the radio It's all since I've installed and enabled the rear view camera and when I did the hard reset

Thanks I've put the CD in and now can't eject it 😞 THis is so frustrating Tried disconnecting the battery etc, i can hear it spinning the disk but won't eject it.

Do I burn it to the CD as an .Iso file? Then plug it straight into the radio? Thanks again for your support

Also I saw another post where someone has updated via SD card? I have the slot in my head unit. Could I maybe do that as I currently don't have a CD drive in my laptop, or any CD's
