  1. £14 , wow , it's many years since I had a petrol engine and that was a motorbike
  2. On a journey of 30 minutes across town , the engine was off for 15 of those minutes, got to be good

  4. But you won't be getting a proper dyno wheel reading as the power will be less as soon as you re enable the 4wd

  8. I've never heard anyone lubing the belt! Have they really changed the belt, have a look with a torch , if the noise is still there it'll probably be the tensioner

  10. the pollen filter gets filthy , makes you think twice about opening the window in traffic
  11. I had mine done at 135 k on a 2014 , it recommends 140 k but I bottled
  12. standard pads , I bought an ex demo car, I though someone may have overheated the brakes on a test drive maybe? I did the heavy braking trick to no avail
  13. My 140 4 x 4 had terrible brakes when I bought it at 5000 m , new rear pads sorted it , I also had it remapped as it was really sluggish , very disappointed with performance . it's transformed after the remap, leaps into life with a bit of throttle
  14. I liked those bullet hole stickers that came with a certain amount of fuel , I was never old enough
  15. old cars didn't even have fuel filters , the jets used to get blocked in the carbs
  16. The calipers slide on pins /rods to ensure they say central with wear, these can stick with rust and dirt
  17. I had my i800 conk out on me after I filled up , at only 30k , it was full of water and sand like grit which I'm assuming was from the dregs of the fuel station tank
  18. Whats the service life of the dsg friction plates? The torque convertor has a theoretical everlasting life

  20. They'll end up with a variomatic gearbox like the old dafs. I don't opt for the dsg as I do high mileage so don't want the complexity, fault liability , maintenance, cost of purchase ,running and extra fuel consumption
  21. all engines get some blowpast, that's why they have a breather pipe
  22. I thought all modern diesels have them to cope with the torque
