  1. You've done well there... no risk to you at all. Probably only possible as well as necessary due to the current circumstances. In normal times, I can't imagine a dealer allowing someone to order a car that he (the dealer) might then have sat on his books for a while until someone else comes along - but as you say, they're pretty much guaranteed to sell it (potentially at a premium) if you back out at the moment.
  2. I wasn’t trying to be nosey - just interested in the mechanics of having 3 cars on order at the same time! Not something I’ve ever even considered.
  3. Slightly off topic, but does that mean you've applied for 3 lots of credit...? I obviously don't know your personal circumstances, but presumably you've been approved for all 3 in order to place the order? Ignoring the affordability question as I'm guessing you didn't tell any of them about the other applications... but won't that impact on your credit rating (multiple applications in a short time)? Asking out of pure interest - nothing else.
  4. It actually pumps it into the exhaust... not the cabin. It's better than the one on my old Octavia vRS (not hard as a fake v6 sound on top of a diesel engine is absolutely terrible!), but it's still debatable - the wife thinks it's naff and I think it's perfect for annoying the neighbours, but that's about it. As for the Sportline, I doubt the exhaust note is tuned at all. BICBW.
  5. If they’re ‘in stock’ you would expect them to be ready as soon as you want them. I’d be more than a little concerned that they don’t actually have them yet but they expect (honestly, guv) to get them in a few weeks*. *I suppose it all depends on what you class as a ‘few’…
  6. Is it an African or European swallow ship?
  7. Indeed, but that will be Skoda UK in this country - still nothing to do with the factory.
  8. I think the only limitation is the lack of wireless CarPlay. But I don't know if that's only on the MIB3 Columbus anyway. Unfortunately, I went from a MIB2 Columbus without VC, to a MIB3 with VC... and I honestly can't remember if I got song information on the maxidot display because it was usually set to something more car related (oh, the days of only having limited information on your dashboard!).
  9. I think the general idea is that the engine isn't sipping more fuel, it's just generating more power/torque from the same amount of fuel by changing some parameters. I'm no engineer, so I have no idea how viable the whole thing is in that respect. But again, the small print says "depending on driving style". They know that most people who get more power will use more fuel because they'll be trying to use that power... otherwise what's the point? Even with fuel prices how they are, it's going to take a very long time to save enough to cover the purchase price of the box itself.
  10. Does it have a physical volume knob? If so, it's an Amundsen. If not, it's a Columbus. As for which version... I'm not sure when exactly they switched from MIB2 to MIB3 - but if you can't do wireless CarPlay then I'm guessing MIB2.
  11. You're missing the crucial words - 'up to'. That could be anything from 0% to 20%. It's like the toilets in McDonalds claiming to reduce water usage by up to 100%... The manufacturers are more concerned about reliability than extracting the absolute best from their engines. They need them to last for years and years, so they set them to operate within safe parameters that will cope with the dodgy fuel you get anywhere they sell the cars (we're lucky* in that the petrol/diesel we pump into our cars is decent quality). Then there is the question around invalidating warranties etc, if that a) applies to you still and/or b) actually bothers you anyway. But to answer your question - no, never used one... but I keep looking at the pedal boxes to try and reduce/eliminate the throttle lag because I think that's the biggest issue with the Kodiaq feeling 'sprightly' (no matter what the engine). Maybe if I hang onto the vRS after the warranty runs out, I'll consider a tuning box / remap - it's the Golf GTI engine so it's a popular one for such things, after all!
  12. That's a bit strange... I assume your phone is up to date (i.e. latest version of iOS)? Have you tried both wired + wireless? Do you get the same result? Which entertainment unit do you have in your Kodiaq? And I don't wish to insult your intelligence... but did you actually have a song playing at the time? If not, it does just show the CarPlay logo!
  13. Same here... though I think you mean dealer discount. Pretty sure the factory don't discount them 😃.
  14. If you can call Tesco Momentum 'premium', then yes. It's a good job the consumption has improved - it's costing me over £80 a tank at the moment 😭.
  15. I can't be the only one thinking 'Jeep'...?
  16. https://www.peugeot.co.uk/models/categories/sport/HYPERCAR_9X8.html Now that's a Peugeot I can get on board with... 🤣 Are you James May in disguise?
  17. I couldn't disagree more - it just looks like a minibus to me! Do they still do that thing where they pump out a different fragrance through the AC depending on what driving mode (eco/sport etc.) you're in? That's got to be one of the most bizarre features I've ever come across on a car.
  18. So you keep saying… just go buy something else already and put yourself (and us 😜) out of your misery. Or does the fact that you keep doing this but refuse to cancel your Kodiaq order really mean you’re just trying to convince yourself?
  19. Change either the left or right to 'Audio' (or whatever that is in Swedish!).
  20. It certainly gets a bit warm... but then I find wireless charging does that regardless of anything else. Definitely better if your phone is already charged and it's just being kept 'topped up'. I tend not to put it in the charging tray unless it's a long journey - it's not quite as bad at eating the battery as I make out, but it's definitely a noticeable drain (my phone tends to spend most of the daytime sat on its wireless charger as it's somewhere to keep it on my desk while I'm working, so I'm not too worried about short journeys round town).
  21. There's no functional difference between wired and wireless CarPlay - except one charges your battery and one eats it for breakfast.
  22. Finance offers expire - they're not open ended. No one is going to offer you finance for something today and keep that offer open indefinitely because people's circumstances change. The deal you strike with your dealer is one thing... the offer from the finance company to supply the loan for the agreed amount is another thing entirely. No one said the offer from the dealer expires. Anyway, I hope you're enjoying it. Totally agree that the build quality seems better, but we'll see if any of the niggles from the old one have carried over in the long run.
  23. How many miles on yours? I've shot up to almost 4,000 after a busy Easter holidays (and motorway journeys are regularly returning around 40mpg now). It definitely started improving after about 2,000 miles, and has carried on getting better and better - it'll be doing 50mpg by the summer 🤣.
  24. You have a habit of editing your posts after people have replied to them... so I just thought I'd save you the bother this time.
  25. FTFY. HTH. HAND. (ps. it takes a lot more than that to wind me up, don't feel bad about your failure)
