Yet Another Fuel Consumption Thread
I love how you assume you know everything about everyone. You could also quote posts, instead of using screenshots... but you do you. Yes, it was fun when there was no traffic... but I also spent plenty of time sat behind traffic going slower than the speed limit. I do that too sometimes, so I'm in no position to get annoyed with them. And I didn't sit up their backsides, and I didn't overtake dangerously (I don't think I actually overtook anyone at all). Not that I have to justify myself to you or anyone else (except maybe the wife) - but I went for the vRS because, in my humble opinion, it looks pretty nice and is better (again, in my humble opinion) than a lot of the competition (I've said plenty of times I didn't buy it for the power, and I was perfectly content with the 1.4TSI in my last bear). Pretty sure I've also said this before, but I did also look into both an Enyaq and an Octavia vRS iV - the deal on the Kodiaq was by far the most appealing.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
I think, in this case, it was a poor choice of words. We've all done it. I think the point that @SurreyJohn was trying to make, is that the dealer should have sent the paperwork over to you in plenty of time - especially if the original offer had expired. It has been my experience (and others from the sound of it) that you get the paperwork a week or so in advance of collecting the car... but basically as soon as a handover date has been agreed because that's the date they need to put on the paperwork. It's not clear from your posts whether this was the case or not, so directing your (understandable) frustration at VWFS for their weekend opening hours may be misplaced if the dealer was lax in their efforts at getting the paperwork sorted out in the first place. Also - what is to be approved? Is it a new application because the old one expired (or because of the discrepancy)? The finance gets approved when you place the order, and the signing of the documents before picking the car up is just formally entering into the finance agreement. As far as I'm aware, there's nothing for VWFS to approve under normal circumstances. In any case, it will all be worth it when you get in, smell that new car smell, and drive away. Be thankful that you are in a better position than a lot of people and your new car has turned up - a few extra days of waiting won't kill you.

Well, people need to remember that it is a maximum speed limit, not a minimum limit or even a must drive at this speed limit. They also need to not be in such a rush all the time, and be considerate to other drivers. But then there's more chance of seeing your flying blue pigs, because people are arses.

I have no doubt that they are prioritising orders in some way or another... it's just not the way you would necessarily like them to.

Apple CarPlay and Virtual Cockpit question.
The virtual cockpit will display song information, and album art when it feels like it (most of the time, but sometimes it doesn't for an unknown reason). It will also display directional arrows when you have a route set on Apple Maps (or, I believe, any other navigation app that's compatible with CarPlay, but I don't use anything other than Apple Maps) - however, there is a minor bug in that it will display a 'bear right' arrow for exiting a dual-carriageway/motorway onto a slip road, instead of a 'bear left' arrow (the CarPlay display shows the correct arrow, so something is being lost in translation). What it won't display is the maps from CarPlay - the only map you can have on the Virtual Cockpit display is from the built-in nav. So if you use CarPlay for navigation, it's pretty useless having the map view in the cockpit. Apparently, the Audi TT is (or was) the car to get - as there is no central display, CarPlay is displayed directly on the virtual dash... As far as I'm aware, CarPlay has supported dual-display (so main screen + virtual cockpit) since iOS13. But there are either no cars out there that fully support it, or they are very few and far between (I can't find any concrete evidence of any, but some people suggest the BMW 7 series does?).

Issues with adaptive cruise control
Your profile says you have a manual gearbox... so I'd suggest this is half the problem with that. With the DSG, it will change down and use gear braking as well, so it's not constantly jabbing on the brakes like I'm guessing it is on yours.

You really need to check out some reliability and satisfaction surveys before you claim that. On paper, maybe. In reality, not a chance.

The last of those will spend more time on the hard shoulder / in the garage, so I don't know why you'd choose that over the Kodiaq!

You're getting the wrong one then... mine is great fun to drive π. And it looks a damn sight better than a lot of cars out there, which will look dated as soon as the latest 'trends' for cars moves on.

Indeed. And I was fortunate enough to get a really good price and a really good p/x value tooβ¦ and then a better p/x value again by the time it actually turned up, although I split the difference between the original p/x and the market value with the dealer, as he rightly pointed out that he wouldnβt be giving me the same discount if I was ordering at that point. If I had applied that extra p/x value to the PCP deal then the monthly payments would have ended up more or less the same than on the previous Kodiaq, but I took it as βcashbackβ instead.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
There were when I ordered mine last July... π I'm actually paying /more/ on my PCP deal for the vRS than I was for the Edition - but that's because of the price differential, even after discount / massive amount of equity is taken into account. But the deal I got was a good deal, nonetheless. No, that got boring ages ago π.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
You what now? I wasn't screwed on my previous deal. I got a massive discount and a low APR. It was a good deal for buying a car, and I certainly wasn't overpaying on it. The deal I got on my new car was actually about the same... roughly the same %age discount from the dealer and roughly the same APR. The difference (and what made it an awesome deal for me) was the extra deposit I could put into the deal because of the equity I had in the old car, thanks to used prices soaring. Yes, I could probably have leased the car for less than I was paying on a PCP - but then I wouldn't have had the equity and the option to take advantage of that before the end of the deal. As you say, what finance is best for one person isn't the same as for another - which is why it surprised me that you then decided everyone was massively screwed on their last PCP deal... Of course they are - because a lot of people are trading in their cars and taking out new deals. It's the dealer that has to cover the excess equity in the car, not VWFS. The dealer then hopes to make that back (and more) when they re-sell the car, but that's nothing to do with VWFS... unless the new buyer finances it through them, in which case they are laughing all the way to the bank because the new buyer will probably owe more on the same car as the original buyer did when they traded it in and paid off the finance.

Tyre Pressure - How High Can (or Should) I Go?
I couldn't agree more... it was exceptionally nice to drive and perfectly suited to the Kodiaq. I only got the vRS because I wanted a vRS... not because I wanted more power (and to be honest, the figures on the finance were actually better for me than on a 1.5 SportLine with lots of options). I'm not going to argue that the power isn't good fun at times, but given my usual journey profile, I use about 2% of the engine's power most of the time.

I don't follow your logic there... @PMackley13 said they were going to be paying less each month on the car - surely that means they have more to pay into their pension each month if they want to? π

7 seat kodiaq bootliner
I think the canonical answer is Hatchbag... https://www.hatchbag.co.uk I went down the crate route (Trans-K9) - my poor labradoodle didn't like all the space in the boot.

Yet Another Fuel Consumption Thread
And to finish this off... came back via some A-roads to avoid the M6 rush hour car park... consumption was definitely lower, but a lot more fun was had in sport mode! After yesterday, the vRS is beginning to make a lot more sense to me as an overall package. It is both a very comfortable long-distance cruiser, and capable of having some fun (without getting too out of control). I'd class it as a GT SUV rather than a performance one. It's definitely not a town car, but unfortunately that's where I'm going to end up using it most... downside of working from home (no commute) and so doing most of my driving as a taxi driver for the kids or to go to Tesco and back π.

Reset DSG βlearningβ
https://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/tuning/car/skoda/kodiaq-from-2017-onwards/2-0-tdi-4x4-190ps140kw-1968-ccm/#go No idea if that's the right page for your car (think so looking at your profile) - but pretty sure the pedal box listed is the same anyway. It's not just you. I'm onto my second Kodiaq and I still find it difficult. I'm pretty sure the accelerator pedal in the vRS is a binary switch, especially in sport mode - it either does nothing or drops 2 gears and sends you flying π€ͺ.

No joystick control presented when Trailer Assist selected
Oh... wow. I cannot begin to describe just how shady that is. They claim not to be anything like the cheap knock-offs of VAGCOM cables found on eBay, but yet they're selling a... cheap knock-off. I don't for one second believe that they have licensed the firmware - so if, as they claim, it is identical, that has to be a copyright infringement. And I'd be very surprised if the VCDS licence agreement allows you to use it with anything other than a genuine cable. Finally, I love how the pictures are either of an original cable (which is not what you're getting), or they are making cables claiming to be made by Ross-Tech (which is not what you're getting). I'm not for one minute defending the cost of VCDS (although I do think their pricing structure is fairly reasonable) - but this is dodgy as hell and should be avoided at all costs if you have any morals whatsoever.

I think the average for the journey was just over 50mph. Had the cruise control set to 65mph, but the M6 seems to be one long set of roadworks at the moment, and there was the usual queue at the top of the M5.
-
Yet Another Fuel Consumption Thread
So... first proper journey in the vRS complete - 160odd miles up the M5+M6, including through all the ****** roadworks, in the pouring rain, and it returned a very respectable 39.5mpg. I'll take that π. Sure as hell beats the very low 20s I'm averaging with my normal 1-2 mile kids' taxi trips.

Tyre Pressure - How High Can (or Should) I Go?
Out of curiosity, how do you find towing with the 1.4TSi? I never had issues with the last bear (with same engine) when fully loaded, but my eyebrow always raises slightly when towing caravans and stuff is mentioned! Is the suspension raised on the Scout? I never felt like it made all that much difference in the Edition.

Tyre Pressure - How High Can (or Should) I Go?
Just to add to thisβ¦ I looked inside the fuel flap on mine when checking the tyres today, and there are now only 2 sets of pressures listed, one for light/normal load and one for heavy load. There is no middle βECOβ option. But I still pumped them up to 2.7 bar / 39 psi as I always have done on this and the previous Kodiaq. #stuckinmyways #creatureofhabit

Gearbox in emergency mode - no reverse gear
All depends on what service regime it was set to when new - time or mileage. There's this great misconception that cars need to be serviced every year... my last two have been set to mileage so were serviced every 18,000 miles, which was approx. every 18 months. When you know you're going to be getting rid of the car at the end of the PCP deal, it seems stupid to have it serviced more often than you have to! My vRS is set to time as I may end up keeping it, so I'm more willing to pay for it to be serviced every year, no matter what the mileage.

Approved used service history
I'd certainly be taking it into account when negotiating with the dealer... get them to knock the cost of the missing service(s) off the price, or do them before you collect it...
