  1. On the other hand... if the mirrors are out, it's unlocked. If the mirrors are in, it's locked. Easy visual clue which I like and stops me pressing the lock button 'just in case' (as I used to when I had cars without folding mirrors).
  2. So… got in to do the school run, and my car displays the following message on the infotainment unit. Pretty cool to be notified in that way 😁. Service measure 10H6 Dear Sir or Madam, We would like to inform your that your vehicle is subject to recall campaign 10H6. We request that you immediately arrange an appointment with a SKODA service partner to have the essential service measures performed on your vehicle free of charge. There is a risk that the design engine covers installed in your vehicle may, depending on the vehicle usage (e.g. very sporty driving or driving on poor surfaces), come loose from their fastenings over time. An improperly fastened design cover could come into contact with the turbocharger. This could cause damage due to thermal overload. Please follow these restrictions until the service measures have been performed on your vehicle: - Before every journey, check whether the engine cover is firmly attached to the engine. To do so, hold the cover in your hand and try to gently move/shake it. - If the design engine cover is fastened correctly, you may continue to use your vehicle without any restrictions before taking it to a workshop. - If the design engine cover has already come loose, try to remove it completely. - If this is not possible, contact a SKODA partner immediately to have the cover removed at a workshop. - The new version of the design cover is not yet available. As soon as an optimised version of the design cover is available, SKODA will inform your service partner so that the new version of the cover can be installed. Depending on the scope of the work to be performed, the corrective measures to be performed on your vehicle will take approximately 30 minutes. If the service measures have already been performed on your vehicle, you can disregard this correspondence We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding. Your SKODA Team By confirming with the OK button, you let Skoda Auto know that you have taken note of the displayed request.
  3. This is a Kodiaq 'characteristic'... it's definitely suffers from throttle lag. It's probably the singular most annoying thing about it, but I think you just get used to it (or maybe I have because I'm onto my second bear and have been driving them for over 4 years now!). As for your other points - it's difficult to know whether it's a real issue, or just your expectations after experience with other auto 'boxes. There's no doubt that DSG boxes behave differently, and you may just need to get used to how it works. No. DSG 'boxes do not learn anyone's driving style. That's a myth.
  4. Just the one… 2022 will be more recent than 2021/2022.
  5. Are you using something sensible to unpack the file... the built in archive tool is pants, especially on very large files. Try Keka or similar from the App Store. Also, when writing to the USB drive, make sure it doesn't crap AppleDouble (loads of hidden dot files) all over the drive - again, there are utilities such as Blue Harvest that will help you out there. Disclaimer: no inherent interest in either of those apps, but long time user of them.
  6. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/kodiaq/357621/plug-hybrid-skoda-kodiaq-could-be-way Or you could do the same Google search I just did... 😉.
  7. Yeah, I was going to suggest them as an alternative to the Garmin one. Or even Amazon Basics stuff tends to Just Work.
  8. https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/142325 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Charger-iPhone-Smartphones-Tablets-Black/dp/B00EKFH2VG Unsurprisingly, far cheaper on Amazon than on Garmin's own web shop! Not the first make most people would think of, admittedly...
  9. Skoda claim the rear bumper is different... but I'm pretty sure it's only minor (more around the diffuser/fake exhausts area if anything). Unless anyone wants to claim/prove otherwise, I'd put money on the boot aperture (and, therefore, lip) being identical - so, as you say, the previous one should work just fine. However... it does niggle that Skoda didn't just update the part compatibility to include the facelift models, as though there might just be mm of difference in place that mean it fits, but isn't perfect.
  10. I ordered my first Kodiaq at the start of December 2017... and it was at the dealer at the start of February, so about 12 weeks later. I didn't pick it up until March though.
  11. About 6 years ago, my dad waited about 16 weeks for a new Passat to be delivered... but it was the wrong spec. The replacement turned up in 4 weeks. It does seem like there is a way in VAG's system to prioritise an order in certain situations.
  12. Not at all - the 1.4/1.5TSI engines are both great and work perfectly with the DSG 'box, especially around town. Really don't see the need* for anything bigger. *yes, I'm back to the difference between 'need' and 'want' 🤪. I didn't need a VRS, but I wanted one!
  13. Don't let this experience put you off... it would be a shame as dual-clutch auto 'boxes can be a real "best of both worlds" between cruising lazily around and wanting to get a bit of enjoyment from driving your car properly*. Also, you'll be discounting a lot of cars that aren't VAG if you want an auto 'box that isn't dual-clutch. Having said that, I seem to recall something about BMW going back to torque convertor 'boxes from dual-clutch, at least on M cars. *if you believe that a manual 'box is a requirement for driving your car properly.
  14. I have a panoramic roof, and can happily report that after almost 3,000 miles, I've had zero problems and it's awesome. Just remember that people are more likely to post about issues and problems than if nothing goes wrong, so the Internet is inherently biased in that respect. Door guards were standard on pre-facelift models (not sunblinds, they were always part of the family pack). I don't think the family pack was ever standard. Yes, the higher level trims (I think SE L and above) had non-matrix LED lights. (just to correct you slightly - the matrix LED are standard on the facelift except for the base SE trim) Yes, the sports seats in the sportline + vrs are more figure hugging, but they're not stupidly so like some sports seats - they are still comfy and pretty wide. Don't be thinking Recaro or anything like that. Unless you find a new one in stock, you'll be entering the lottery of when a new factory order turns up... not that it's much different with most manufacturers at the moment.
  15. Don't step on the... step? 😳 You should get your stencil and black paint out:
  16. I've got to be honest... they'd be useful for getting at the roof when cleaning the damn thing 😂.
  17. In my experience, refreshing that page is the only way to get the status to update. If you try refreshing the dashboard by pulling down and releasing, it doesn't do anything - despite the refresh symbol appearing at the top for a few seconds. And that's when the app works in the first place. It seems to me to be getting less stable with every update.
  18. Very nice... still not sure about the sidesteps personally - but it does look good. (ps. change your profile... that's not a BiTDI 😉)
  19. I would have thought it was the same as you get with new cars... which does include Home Start and pretty much everything else. https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/roadside-assistance
  20. Meh. I need to put my glasses back on. I thought the reply was to the person saying they'd phoned a dealer wrt one they had and was picking it up on Saturday... Apologies - old age and dodgy eyesight. If you need me, I'll be taking the 🦮 for a walk!
  21. I'm not in denial, at all. I'm perfectly willing to accept that orders are prioritised for build in the factory in certain ways... but what you suggested is that someone bought someone else's fleet/lease order after it had been built and arrived at the dealer. That's a whole different ball game, and I'd suggest you have absolutely no evidence for this because it simply isn't true.
  22. Isn't the road name / number that is displayed when you have a destination set the next road after the upcoming direction (which may or may not be the same road that you're on now)? Therefore, the car never displays the road you are on now (unless the road you need to be on next is the same road). I can see how it would be a nice to have, but can't say it bothers me greatly. But then UX designers are a funny breed with some of the decisions they make - take Apple Maps... if you have a route set, it'll display/warn about speed cameras and traffic lights now, but AFAICT there is absolutely no way of displaying them if you don't have a route set. I think the assumption is that if you have satellite navigation, you're going to set it every time you get in the car. From a certain point of view, this could make sense - at the very least, the route should take into account traffic etc. and so you shouldn't assume the quickest way is the route you took yesterday. On the other hand, when you're travelling around where you live, you tend to know traffic patterns and alternative routes etc. and so don't need the navigation, but it would still be nice to have access to some of the data provided if you do have a route set. Sorry, went off on a bit of a rant there. 🤪
  23. You're starting to sound like a broken record. Unless you can provide tangible evidence that this is actually happening - in which case I'm sure we'd all love to know about it because it would be shady dealings indeed - please give it a rest. I can't for one second imagine that someone's fleet/lease order has got as far as the dealer, and the dealer has instead decided to advertise it on Autotrader and sell it to someone else. But I could be wrong, it's a crazy world.
  24. As with most things... the Skoda one is the Audi one from about 2 generations ago. The tech trickles down eventually... if you want the latest and greatest, go buy an Audi* but be prepared to pay for it. *actually, go buy a Merc S-Class... I laughed when Peugeot started advertising 'night vision' on their cars a couple of years ago - the S-Class had it about 20 years ago. There was a good Top Gear segment on it with JC saying "If you want to know what tech your car will have in 10 years, look at the S-Class of today" (or something along those lines). No idea if that still holds true to that extent... guess it depends on what you're comparing it with. </off-topic> Back to the topic - as everyone else has said, the VC is a factory fit option, and whilst it may be possible to retrofit one, no dealer is going to do it (unless completely unofficially!) and it would almost certainly invalidate the warranty, at least for anything you touch whilst doing it.
  25. I’m no expert, but I would have thought that if properly prepared and primed, it should be possible. Why you would want to, however, is another matter entirely - but each to their own 😁.
